Mrs. Oscar Kieffer gave a fine report of the area convention at Meaford, to which she was a delegate. Mrs. Reuben Apple- by told a few of the highlights of the short course, "Creative Cookery", which some of the members attended in Teeswater. A collection was taken, the money from which will be used for buying Christmas gifts for the Institute's adopted children at Orillia. Mrs. John Rutherford took over as convener for the latter part of the meeting and led in a sing -song of Christmas carols with Mrs. Alvin Mundell at the piano. Following this a film was shown, giving the history of some of the familiar Christ- mas carols. Mrs. Mundell and Margaret Jeffray entertained with a piano duet while lunch was being pre- pared. A number of directors expressed interest in Farmers' Week, which will be held in February 24-28 at the O.A.C. , Guelph. Programs can be ob- tained from the agricultural of- fice in Clinton. All farmers are invited to attend one or more days. Alf. Warner, director of the Ontario Hog Producers Market- ing Board, gave a very interest- ing report and stated that a number of dead and bruised hogs are arriving at the proces- sors' plants, which they are re- luctant to pay for. Early in the year a committee, was set up to make a study of the situation. The result of the committee's work as reported to the last meeting of the board is a shar- ing of losses by an assessment of three percent of the trucker's rate, contributed each by the processor, producer and truck- er. If this does not cover the loss, the trucker is to make up the balance on a penalty basis. The board feels this will final- ize the problem. We hoped to get this in operation early in the new year. The annual meeting of the Huron County Hog Producers will be held on February llth. The Federation of Agricul- ture is again sponsoring a meet- ing with the four area members of the federal and provincial governments on December 27th at Clinton. CGIT Sing Carols Tuesday Evening The C.G.I.T, met at the church on Tuesday evening to go carol singing to shut-ins. Before leaving to tour the frosty streets a pyramid of can- ned goods was built from the tins each girl contributed. These canned gifts were presented to the Salvation Army to distri- bute where needed. The next meeting is slated for Tuesday, Jan, 7. People could make the dol- lar worth a lot more by holding on to it tighter. as. MAY I HANDLE YOUR PERSONAL INSURANCE NEEDS—FIRE, AUTO, LIABILITY?
