Wayne Marriner spent a few
days last week with the former's
mother in Peterboro.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Choimey,
Janey and Paul of Port Colborne,
were week -end guests with the
latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Keith.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boyd
visited a few days recently with
Mr. and Mrs. Barry McKnight
in Simcoe.
Miss Jean Siefert of Listowel
spent the week -end at her home
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stewart
and Mr. and Mrs. Jack King
were Kitchener visitors one day
last week.
Miss Susan Mumford of Kit-
chener spent the week -end with
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marriner.
Mr. and Mrs. Holger Espen -
sen and three children and Mr.
Holger Felskof, left this Mon-
day from Malton for a three
months' holiday in their native
land, Denmark. It is 12 years
since they came to Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Anson Demer-
ling and Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Johnston spent one day last weel
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Goldrich.
Mr. and Mrs. James Robin-
son were Kitchener visitors on
Friday,
Mrs. John Inglis attended the
funeral of a relative in Colling-
wood one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Doig and
Peter of St. Catharines spent
the week -end at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Doig.
Mrs. Leslie Loughran and
Mrs. Elmer Miller were Strat-
ford visitors one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Emmerson Har-
grave of Listowel, Mr. and Mrs.
Stan Forester and Mr. Art For-
ester were Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Spence Brears.
Miss Shirley Orth, Listowel,
and Lloyd Crawford of Monkton
were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. W. Hargrave.

met for the Christmas meeting
in the church basement. Mrs.
Strong presided and brought
Christmas greetings from the
Dominion president, Mrs. J.
Robertson.
"Away in the Manger" was
sung followed by opening pray-
ers. Mrs. Hargrave read the
Christmas story from St. Luke.
The correspondence included
Christmas greetings from Ford-
wich, England, Miss Frances
Lemon, formerly of this parish,
and other former members and
thank you notes from those who
have been ill. Mrs. Attwell
thanked the ladies for a quilt
which had been made for her.
The roll call was answered
by eight ladies revealing her
Secret Pal and a gift which will
,be sent to the Ontario Hospital
at Goderich.
Mrs. Foster read an article,
'Goin' Shopping" which was
interesting and amusing. Splen-
did reports were given from the,
different departments. The bul-
letins were read.
Mrs. Ferguson gave a chap-
ter from the study book "The
Mission Becomes a Church".
It was decided to send to
headquarters for 25 articles to
be sewn for the Mohawk Insti-
tute. Pyjamas, nighties and
dresses are urgently neede,d.
Some funds were voted to the
church missionary fund. Flan-
nelette and yarn will be pur-
chased to provide layettes for
an Indian Reserve.
Mr. Anderson presided for
the election of officers: presi-
dent, Mrs. 1. Strong; 1st vice,
Mrs. E. Ferguson; 2nd vice, El-
va Foster; secretary, Mrs. L.
Jacques; treasurer; Mrs. R.
Foster; Dorcas secretary, Mrs.
Bruce Sothern; educational,
Mrs. E. Ferguson; Little Help-
ers, Mrs. W. Hargrave and Mrs.

Forster, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs.
Hargrave, Mrs. Allan, Mrs.
Browne.
Mrs. Anderson led in the
Litany. Mr. Anderson pro-
nounced the benediction and a
potluck lunch was served.

lascombre Tree, the Umbra
Tree and the Poke Tree? None.
They are all names given to a
tall, 35 -foot shade tree which
grows in South America and in
Mediterranean countries.
Mildmay Trims
Bantams 6-1
The Mildmay Bantams visit-
ed Wingham on Tuesday eve-
ning and walked off with a 6-1
victory over the Wingham Ban-
tams.
Bill Ballagh scored three
goals for the Mildmay team in
the first period and followed in
the second period with another
on an assist from Lobsinger.
Davy Mowbray smashed in
Wingham's only counter at
1:25 in the third frame. Ball-
agh scored his fifth for the eve-
ning and Joe Weishar and Dave
Lang shared honors on the final
counter.
Three penalties went to
Mildmay players and Dave
Schiestel and Jamie Douglas
each sat out two minutes for
charging.

Gowns for Junior Choir

FORDWICH--St, Anne's
Guild of Trinity Anglican
Church met at the home of Mrs.
Peter Browne for their Christ-
mas meeting. The opening
carol was "Silent Night, Holy
Night". Mrs. Lyle Simmons
read the Scripture lesson.
Minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved. Roll
call was answered with a verse
on advent by 14 members and
one visitor. The financial re-
port was given by the treasurer,
which showed that the Guild had
a very successful year. Two
kneeling cushions were made by
Mrs. Bruce Armstrong for Trini-
ty Church and the new gowns
for the junior choir are now
completed.
Several cards were signed by
the members for shut-ins.Mem-
bers decided to again have a
Secret Pal for 1964 and also
that each member be responsi-
ble for at least $5.00 in talent
money to be made some time
during the year.
Readings were given by Mrs.
Harold Foster and Mrs. Welling
ton Hargrave. Rev, G. Ander-
son then presided for the elec-
tion of officers.

The meeting closed with
prayer and a contest was con-
ducted by Mrs. Lyle Simmons,
after which gifts were exchang-
ed from a gaily decorated tree
and each member found out who
her secret pal had been. A de-
licious lunch was served by Mrs.
Dave Dinsmore, Mrs. Hector
Browne and the hostess.
Another exceedingly poor
judge of distance in most cases
is the person who agrees to
meet you halfway on some mat-
ter.
