Christmas Hymns
Sung at Meetino
BELGRAVE--The Messengers
met far their December meet -
in the church school room.
The meeting opened with the
motto, followed by the Messen-
ger prayer. Chapter five of the
story, "The Buffalo and the Belt-;
was told by Mrs. Jack Higgins
and a discussion period follow-
ed.
The theme for worship was
"Helping Others to Know God".
All repeated Psalm 100 and
"Away in a Manger" was sung.
World Friends were given out
by Calvin Nixon. Offering was
received by Gail Resansoff and
"Father, Bless the Gifts We
Bring Thee" was sung. The
meeting closed with the bene-
diction, "Old Grandmother's
Blessing" from the continued
story.

BELGRAVE—The December
meeting of the W.M.S. of Knox
Presbyterian Church was held
with Mrs. J. Dunbar presiding,
in the absence of Mrs. Wight -
man, the President. The pro-
gram from the Glad Tidings was
followed opening with the call
to worship, invocation and the
hymn, "Hark! The Herald An-
gels Sing".
Mrs. J. C. McBurney read
and commented on the Scrip-
ture. Mrs. Mac Scott led in
prayer. The topic, ''Keeping
Christmas" was taken by Mrs.
Anderson, and she asked the
question "To which group of
individuals do we belong: to the
busy innkeepers who miss their
great opportunity; to the hum-
ble Shepherds, who heard and
accepted the great message,
while carrying on with their
regular work, or to the Wise
Men who,followed the Star and
brought their gifts to the Sav-

BELGRAVE—Congratulations
to Mrs. Murray Scott of Bel -
grave on winning the highest
4-1-1 score in Huron County and
receiving the Hon. C. S. Mac -
Naughton Trophy, also the
highest score for Dairy Calf
Club for which she received the
Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce wrist watch. John
Wightman of Belgrave won the
J. A. Anstett wrist watch for
achieving the highest score for
4-H Beef Calf Clubs.

At Unit Meeting
BELGRAVE—The Afternoon
Unit of the U.C.W. was held in
the church basement on Wed-
nesday afternoon. Mrs. Stew-
art Procter, leader, opened with
a hymn followed by the Lord's
prayer in unison. Scripture
from Luke 1 was read by Mrs.
Helen Martin. Mrs. Stewart
Procter gave a Christmas read-
ing and followed with prayer.
Mrs. James Michie favoured
with a solo.
Minutes were read by Mrs.
Jesse Wheeler and the treasurer's
report showed $152,75 to date;
$20.25 for November, A re-
minder was given of the bale
to be packed. Mrs. Carl Proc-
ter reported that the Christmas
Cheer boxes are to be packed
shortly and donations of cook-
ies or jam would he appreciat-
ed. Mrs. Williard Armstrong
read the Christmas story.

Mrs. Nicholson read a Christ-
mas
hristmas poem and Mrs. Bruce led
in the Glad Tidings prayer. The
meeting closed with a Christ-
mas hymn and prayer by Mrs.
Dunbar.
The program committee,
Mrs. Dunbar, Mrs. J. C. Mc-
Burney, Mrs. G. Nicholson and
Mrs, C. Purdon will prepare for
the 1964 meetings. A card was
signed with the names of all
members and sent to Mrs.
Wightman with greetings and
good wishes.

Afternoon Unit
FORDWICH—The Afternoon
Unit of Fordwieh United Church
Women met for the Christmas
meeting in the Sunday school
room. Mrs. Wray Cooper pre-
sided, taking as her theme,
"The Joy of Christmas".
A candle lighting service de-
picting the love of God was con-
ducted by Mrs, Wm. Wilson,
Mrs. Crosby Sothern, Mrs.Bruce
Agla and Miss Violet Beswither-
ick with carol singing inter-
spersed. The Christmas story
from St, Luke was read by Mrs.
George Ashton. A film, "To
Remember Christmas" was
shown by Mrs. William Wilson.
Officers for 1964 were elect-

Pre -Christmas
Activities
BELGRAVE—There are sev-
eral Christmas activities com-
ing up in the churches in Bel -
grave. On December 20, the
United Church concert will take
place in the Foresters' Hall.
This concert will be open to
anyone wishing to attend. On
December 22, the C.G.I.T.
members will hold their annual
Christmas vesper service in the
United Church and on Decem-
ber 23, the Anglican Church
will hold its congregational pot-
luck
otluck supper and program in the
Foresters' Hall.
STORE SOLD
BELGRAVE—The general
store in Belgrave which has
been operated by Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Charles for the past nine
months has been sold to Mr.
Amos Smith of Ethel, who will
take possession on Jan. 1. Mr.
and Mrs. Charles will return to
Listowel.
Time is that expanse of
space between pay days.
Trix Winkel Has County Honors
FORDWICH—The Huron
County 4-H Achievement Day
for this district was held Satur-
day in Wroxeter Community
Hall. The project, "The Milky
Way" was represented by eleven
homemaking clubs, Fordwich
being one of them. The local
girls completing the project were
Shirley Eurig, Doris Carswell,
Marian Harding, Karen Cars-
well, Trix Winkel, Sandra Al-
lan, Donna Armstrong, Each of
the girls received a sterling sil-
ver 4-H homemaking club tea-
spoon,
Trix Winkel received Coun-
ty Honours for completing six
projects and was presented with
a certificate and pin. The Ford-
wich Club presented a skit,
"What Milk Did for Molly".
The next 4-H project to be
sponsored by the Fordwich W.I.
will be "What Shall I Wear?"
which will begin in the new
year. All girls in the com-
munity are welcome to partici-
pate.
The home economist for
Huron is Miss Patricia Damude
and the two leaders from Ford-
wich are Mrs. Scott Clarkson
and Mrs. John Inglis,

Lodge one night last week,
held in the Orange Hall at Bel -
grave.
Mr, and Mrs, Herbert Ross
left last week for Toronto where
they will spend the winter
months.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Con-
nell spent one day last week in
Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs, Doug Wild-
fang and Brian of Cooksville
were week -end visitors with Mr.
and Mrs, Roy Simmons.
Misses Marjorie and JeanFas-
ter of Toronto were week*end
visitors with their mother, Mrs.
Ruby Foster.
Week -end visitors with Mrs,
Curtis Jordan were Rev. and
Mrs. J. A. Hodgson of Wood-
bridge, Mr., Edwin Jordan of
Toronto and Mr, and Mrs. Ken-
neth Jordan and family of Wood-
stock. They also visited with
Mr, Curtis Jordan in the Palm-
erston Hospital.
Mr. Everitt Cooper of Clin-
ton visited over the week -end
with his parents, Mr, and Mrs,
Cecil Cooper.
Mr, and Mrs. Holger Espen -
sen were Kitchener visitors on
Saturday.
MURRAY McLENNAN was the winner of this year's Canada
Packers Award and is pictured above as he was presented
with the award by Mr. D. M. Maltby, of Canada Packers
Ltd., Harriston, during the annual Commencement Friday.
