Whitechurch Happenings
Mr. and Mrs, William Un-
derwood of Toronto spent the
week -end with Mr. and Mrs,
James Mclllrath.
Mrs. James Richardson,Mrs.
Charles Tiffin and Mrs. John-
ston Conn were Friday visitors
with Mrs. William Taylor at
Brucelea Haven Walkerton.
Mrs, Clarence Adams was a
patient in Wingham District
Hospital last week, with a dia-
betic condition.
Miss Linda Johnston of near
Belgrave spent the week -end
with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tif-
fin.
Mrs. Victor Emerson and
Mrs. Harvey Houston spent
Wednesday at the home of Mrs.
Don MacKay, Underwood, Dis-
trict president of Bruce Centre
Women's Institute. Mrs. Em-
erson conducted a workshop
with the secretary -treasurers
and Mrs. Houston with the pub-
lic relations officers. There
are 13 branches in this district.

Mrs. Wallace Conn and Mrs,
Victor Emerson attended Bruce
South District Achievement
Day in Kincardine on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes
spent Thursday with Mr. and
Mrs, Lawson Majury of Paisley.
We are pleased to report Mr.
Majury has returned from Owen
Sound Hospital and is making a
rapid recovery from an acute
hernia operation.
Miss Linda Johnston, Bel -
grave, and Mrs, Charles Tiffin
were Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. William Brown of
Lucknow.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adair of
Wingham spent Thursday eve-
ning with Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Martin.
Mrs. W. R. Farrier arrived
home Saturday from Sarnia
where she had been visiting for
a month with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Gillespie and family. On Fri-
day she attended the capping
ceremony at Strathroy Hospital,
where her granddaughter, Miss
Donna Gillespie, is a nurse -in -
training and received her cap.
Congratulations to Donna who
is well known in this commun-
ity.
Mr. and Mrs. Hector Purdon
of Sarnia spent the week -end
with his sister, Mrs. Cecil Fal-
coner and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Purdon of Lucknow.
Mrs. Don Gray, Bonnie,
Tommie and Donald of London,
spent the week -end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Magoffin.
Miss Ruth Taylor of Toronto
spent the week -end with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Taylor.

evening in London with Mr. and
Mrs. James Cassidy and Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Cassidy, and
on Saturday attended the fun-
eral of Mrs. De Buck of Tillson-
burg.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben McClen-
aghan spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan
and Mr, Paul Geiger of Kitch-
ener spent the week -end at the
same home.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson,
David and Donna Jean of Lon-
don spent the week -end with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ger-
shorn Johnston. Miss Barbara
Ritchie also spent the week -end
with her grandparents.
Mrs. Dan Tiffin, accomp-

Lilian Kregar and Mr. Barry Tif-
fin spent Saturday in Kitchener.

Toronto, at his home, Miss
Margaret McMillan, Kitchener,
with Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Mc-

FAMILY GATHERERING
AT COULTES HOME
BELGRAVE—Mrs. Winona -
Stonehouse of Phoenix, Arizo-
na, visited with Stonehouse re-
latives in the community last
week and left on Saturday from
Malton Airport to return home.
On Thursday evening mem-
bers of the family gathered to-
gether at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, R, H. Coultes. Those
present were Mr. and Mrs. Nor
man Stonehouse of London,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGuire
of Belgrave, Mrs. Winona
Stonehouse of Phoenix, Mr. and
Mrs. Russel Walker of Goderich,
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse
of Belgrave. Nieces and nep-
hews joined them in the eve-
ning and slides were shown.
Weekly Euchre
BELGRAVE--The weekly
euchre was held on Wednesday
evening in the Community Cen-
tre, with 8 tables in play.
Prizes went to: high lady, Mrs.
Joe Dunbar; high man, Earl
Noble; novelty lady, Mrs. Jesse
Wheeler; novelty man, George
Jordon; low lady, Mrs. Chris
Nethery; low man, Carl Procter..
The euchre on December 11
will be the last until after the
New Year.

Mr. Jas. Doig spent a couple
of days last week with his son,
Lorne and Mrs. Doig, at Dray-
ton.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson
and Dale, Port Rowan, were
week -end visitors with Mrs.
Elizabeth Hoffman.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Coates
were in Sarnia recently where
they visited Mr. and Mrs. Clay-
ton Coates.

For Meeting
FORDWICH--The C.G,I.T.
held their November meeting
at the home of Mrs. Harold
Pollock, which opened with a
sing song led by Leslie Camp-
bell. The national anthem,
Lord's prayer, purpose and an-
swer followed. Twenty girls
answered the roll call.
Lynn Johnson read the min-
utes. The Christmas meeting
will be held at the home of
Karen Carswell, with a pot luck
supper. The vesper service will
be held in the church on Dec-
ember 16th and everyone is
welcome.
Joanne Williamson led in the
worship service, assisted by
Dale Ross. Miss Nancy Neil
gave the chapter from the study
book and the meeting closed
with taps. A delicious lunch
was served.

FORDWICH—A presentation
and dance was held in the Ford-
wich community hall Friday
night in honour of Mr. and Mrs.
William Weber (Pauline Soth-
ern) newlyweds.
Miss Phyllis Wilson read the
address and Larry McDerrnitt
and Mrs. Earl Moore presented
them with matching table
lamps, magazine rack and a
purse of money.

was supplied by Lambkin's or-
chestra.
DANCE HELD
BELGRAVE--A dance, spon-
sored by the ball team, was
held on Friday evening in the
Foresters' Hall. Music for danc-
ing was supplied by Tiffin's
Orchestra. The draw for $50
was won by James Lamont of
Belgrave and was presented by
Murray Mulvey.
ATTEND RALLY
BELGRAVE--The members of
the Belgrave Hi -C Group at-
tended the Huron County Youth
Rally held in Walton on Sunday
evening. The guest speaker
was Mr, Knott of London, who
spoke on Toc Alpha.
Toronto and David Sanderson of
Hamilton were week -end guests
at the home of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jas, Sanderson.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smith and
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown and
Lori spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Fiddes, Brampton.
We wish to welcome Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Brown and family
of Mt. Forest to our community.
They have taken up residence
in Mr. Geo. Lackie's house.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Greig,
Petrolia, visited relatives in
and around the village at the
week -end.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Ingram were Mr.
and Mrs. Eldon Ingram and
family, Stratford.
Mr. Wilmer Noble, Listowel,
is spending a few days with his
cousin, Mrs. J. F. McLean.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Karn and
family were in Kitchener on
Sunday where they visited Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Jackson.
Miss Gertrude Bush and Mrs.
W, Weir visited Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dane, How -
ick.
Mrs, Allan Munro and Mas-
ter Ian Howes were patients in
Wingham hospital last week,
but we are pleased to see both
have been able to return home.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hislop
and Mr. Geo, McKay visited
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. McKay.
Hold White Gift Service at Knox
BELGRAVE—A White Gift
service was held in Knox Unit-
ed Church on Sunday. Ralph
Logan was leader of the service
and opened with the call to wor
ship followed by the hymn "0
Come All Ye Faithful". Ralph
led in prayer and read the
Scripture lesson.
The White Gifts were broughti
by the children of the congrega-
tion and dedicated by singing
"We Would See Jesus". The
offering was received and dedi-
cated. The story "If 1 Had Not
Come" was told by Mrs. Clif-
ton Walsh, The song "Infant
Holy" was sung by the choir.
"Away in a Manger" was sung
and the sermon was given by
Rev. Arthur Jackson. "Joy to
the World" and the benediction
by Rev. Jackson, closed the ser-
vice.
