Frank Coulter, Mrs, Mae - ate r Signers Elect Slate ,Donald,Mrs. Annie Lott and Whitechurch Happenings WHITECHURCH--On Wed- nesday evening the following water signers met in the White- church Community Memorial Hall: Mrs. A, McQuillan, Dave Gibb, Albert Coultes, Al- den Purdon (for Mrs. Mabel Purdon), Hugh Hand, Mrs. Cof- fin, Ezra Scholtz, Orville Tif- fin, Elwood Groskortn, Tom Morrison, Bruce Thompson, Vic Emerson, Mrs. Willis, Fred Tiffin, Wes Tiffin, Mrs, Dan Tiffin (for Community Hall), Mrs. Jas. Laidlaw. The Pres- byterian manse was represented by Jack Aitcheson. Absent from the meeting were Mrs, Cassie Falconer, Mrs. Clarence Adams, W. R. Chapman for two dwellings, Watts Feed Mill and Dave MacDonald. The chairman, Elwood Gros- korth, opened the meeting, He expressed thanks to Reeve Murray and Clerk Gordon Wall of Kinloss for accepting the invitation to attend this meet- ing. The Kinloss council has looked after the Whitechurch Water System for the past two years, The minutes of the last meeting, December 7, 1962, was read by the secretary, Mrs. Valetta Emerson and adopted. It was decided that the signers should see about insurance. Reeve Murray will interview Culross Mutual Co. and Elwood Groskorth will interview West Wawanosh Co. A new leasee must pay the cost of the hook up plus $371.00 capital cost. The cost of the system for the past two years was presented by Elwood Gros- korths Well drilling, 31221.- 75; Simpson Bros., 34730.55; Jack Farrish, $785.51; miscel- laneous, $11'1.88; Hydro, 3153.81; engineer, 3330.00; Donnelly, Donnelly and Mur- phy, lawyers' fees, $432.50; Simpson settlement, 3350.00; clerk's fees, 355.00; interest, $727.02. Total $8,004.02. Twenty-four signers pay 38904.02 wnich is 3371,00 cash or $50.46 in ten annual payments. If they fail to pay, by show of hands it was decid- ed that maintenance marc will be authorized to turn the water off. The election of officers was conducted by Reeve Murray: President, Victor Emerson; secretary, Mrs. Victor Emerson; treasurer, Elwood Groskorth; directors, Bruce Thompson 3 years, Ezra Scholtz 2 years, Albert Coultes 2 years, Fred Tiffin 2 years, Kinloss Council, one member, one year. President Vic Emerson thanked Reeve Murray and Clerk Gordon Wall for being present and assisting with the arising difficulties, and to signers for attending and being so co-operative. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stock - (Marilyn Morrison) Kenneth, Harold and Shane left for their home in Timmins on Thursday, after spending a week's holi- days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Morrison. After being ill with a heart and nerve condition for almost two weeks, Mr. Claude Coffin was taken on Tuesday to Wing - ham District Hospital and on Wednesday was taken to the new hospital at Goderich, We wish him a speedy recovery. The U.C.W. held a very successful bake sale at Wing - Laymen Take Part in Service WHITECHURCH—The ser- vice in the Presbyterian church on Sunday was conducted by the student preacher, Mr. Jacob Kuiper, assisted by the laymen Mr, Kuiper welcomed all visitors and those from the Lang - side congregation as Langside and Whitechurch congregations were united for this service. The men's choir of Langside and Whitechurch sang anthems, "Take Time to Be Holy" and "Higher Ground". George Conn was the organist. James Richardson read the Scripture lesson and Murray Gaunt led in prayer. Gordon Wall gave the mes- sage, taking the topic, "Stones He proved stones are hindran- ces in everyday life but if we have faith, the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen, we will suc- ceed. We must be borne again in spirit and we must ever be witnesses for Christ. The pas- tor closed the service. Kitchener Plant Toured by Ladies W HITECHURCH—Allan Reid drove a bus to Kitchener on Thursday when a number of ladies from the community toured Schneider's plant. Four- teen hundred workers are em- ployed there. The tour took about two hours and the visitors were then served a lunch of bread and but- ter, various cooked meats, pickles and coffee. Each woman received a pound of shortening. Those who enjoyed the trip were Mrs. A. Coultes, Mrs. J. Gaunt, Mrs, Ezra Scholtz, Mrs, Lester Falconer, Mrs. Walter Arscott, Mrs. Claude Coffin, Mrs. Lloyd Montgomery, Mrs. Jim Coultes, Mrs. Sid Adams, Mrs. Jacklin, Mrs. Ed. Mr. Brian King of Teeswater spent Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Walter Arscott, Mr, Russel Chapman and Garry went to Windsor on Fri- day and brought home the new school bus. This community extends sympathy to Mrs, George Mc- Kague in the sudden passing of her husband, George McKague, on Sunday evening from aheart condition. Mr. and Mrs. Me- Kague had attended the service in Chalmers Presbyterian church at 11 a.m. Mr. and Mrs, Gershom John- ston, accompanied by Mr, and Mrs. Jack Johnston and family of London, visited the former's granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Peacock and family of Alliston and with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pressick and family of RETURNS FROM EUROPE WHITECHURCH—Mr. Joseph Hetherington of Shell - brook, Sask., returning from a tour of European battlefields from Ypres in the north to Amiens in the south, where he had seen action in World War I, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin, and other rela- tives. His mother was former- ly the late Maggie Jane Tiffin and his father the late Bill Hetherington. Owing to a scarcity of high school teachers, Mr. Hethering- ton is resuming the teaching of Science, in which he special- ized, next week in his home town of Shellbrook. Make Plans For Hallowe'en BELGRAVE—The regular meeting of the C.G.I.T, was held on Friday in the church school room. Mrs. Arthur Jackson led in games. The meeting opened with the pur- pose, Scripture and unison prayer. Nancy VanCamp read the minutes. Mrs. Jackson gave the treasurer's report and then turned the books over to Joyce Procter. It was decided that Lynda Coultes and Marilyn Tay- lor would be in charge of the games for the Hallowe'enparty to be held at Mrs. Cliff Logan's. Refreshments will be tarts and hot chocolate, The next meet- ing will be on Thursday eve- ning, Nov. 7 with MarilynTay- lor in charge of games and Joyce Procter in charge of the worship. It was decided that this year's Bible study would be "Being a Christian at Horne". The vesper service will be held on December 22, and the ini- tiation of new members will be on Nov. 7. The crafts of stuf- fed toys were started. Wendy and Rhonda Fear were in charge of the worship service and Wendy opened with the call to worship followed by Scripture read by Rhonda. "The Wise May Bring Their Learning" was sung. Wendy gave a medi- tation followed by prayer. Aud- rey Coultes and Janette Johnston received the offering, which was dedicated by Rhonda. "Faith of Our Fathers" was sung. In place of the regular bene- diction the New C.G.I.T. prayer was repeated in unison. The meeting closed with taps. OPP Statistics Show .Deaths The Ontario Provincial Po- lice statistical report for Sept- ember lists 15 persons killed in nine motor vehicle accidents in District 6, which takes in six counties including Huron. The report also shows a total of 220 accidents with 121 people injured. Police checked 5, 936 vehicles, issued 2,001 warnings and preferred charges in 676 cases, In the same period the totals for the province showed 115 people died in 98 fatal ac- cidents with a total of 2,691 repotted accidents, in which 1,526 persons were injured. Orillia. Mr, and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family and his mother, Mrs. Elliott of Wingltam, .spent the week -end with relatives at Livonia, Michigan. Miss Lila Humphrey of St. Helens spent last week with her sister, Mrs, George Walker. On Sunday, Mr, and Mrs. George Walker and Miss Hum- phrey visited with their aunt, Mrs. Tebbutt at Huronview. Mr. and Mrs. Relison Fal- coner and sons of Sarnia spent the week -end with his mother, Mrs. Cassie Falconer, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swan and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wadel of Zurich. ' Mr. and Mrs. Doug. Mc- Ewen of Toronto spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ross. Mr. Wesley Tiffin was dri- ver of the bus which on Satur- day took the volley ball team and others to the game at Stratford, Mrs, L. De Groot of Heem- stede, Netherlands, is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Kui- per and Mr. Kuiper at the Whitechurch manse. She ar- rived at Toronto Friday eve- ning by train from Montreal. The trip over by boat was not so pleasant because of storms. Mr. and Mrs. Milian Moore attended the farm stock and implements sale of Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson at Feversham on Tuesday. On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Thompson and sons, Earl and Charles, moved to the home of the late Rev. and Mrs. Watt. Charles and Earl started to S.S. No. 10 on Monday. We welcome the family to the village. Mrs, Emerson attended the curator meeting held in Kair- shea Hall on Monday for Bruce South District curators of the 15 branches. Spending the week -end with their families were Mr. George Conn, University of Western Ontario, London, with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn; Mr. Bar- ry Tiffin, University of Water- loo with Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin; Miss Muriel Moore, University of Western Ontario with Mr. and Mrs. Millan Moore and Miss Elaine Conn who is teaching in Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. W. Conn, Reception for Mr., Mrs. Hand WHITECHURCH—On Satur- day evening a reception was held for Mr, and Mrs. Edward Hand (Pat Jacklin) in the White- church Community Memorial Hall. Dancing was enjoyed to the music of Tiffin's Orchestra. During lunch intermission an R. C, A. F, friend gave an ad- dress and another of his R.C.A. F. comrades presented Mr. and Mrs. Hand with a gift of money. Edward is a member of the R,C.A.F. and his popularity was shown by the number of servicemen in attendance, BELGRAVE Beginning November 9, the library will be open Saturday afternoons from 24:30 p.m. Miss Pat Logan of Toronto spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Logan. The annual Cub and Scout church parade will be held on Sunday November 3 to the Presbyterian Church, i3elgrave, at 2: 30 p. m. The Cubs and Scouts will meet at the United Church at 2:15. Mr. George Michie attend- ed the laymen's conference held in Sarnia at the week -end. Miss Marlene Walsh of Water loo spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Walsh. Dr. Bert Brown of Weston and his mother, Mrs. A. E. Brown of Motherwell visited a week ago Sunday with Mrs. Winnie Smith and Mrs, Brown remained to spend the week. On Monday, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Smith and Mrs, Julia McNall visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McCrea and family at Blyth. Mrs. Brown also visited last week with Mrs. James Lamont and family and with Mrs. Julia McNall and Michael, and re- turned to her home on Monday. FORDWlCH Recent visitors with Wand Mrs. Torn McClement were Mr, and Mrs, T. J. Schaefer of Brantford. Mrs. Jack Mann, Misses It Doris Carswell, Audrey Ruttar, and Brenda Hilson visited one day last week with Misses Betty McClement and Sharon Pollock in Kitchener. Best wishes to Mr, and Mrs.11L William Weber, who were mar- ried Saturday in Trinity Angli- can Church. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Winston returned home over the week- end after visiting two montns with relatives in England. Mrs. A, C, Coles and two children left by plane from Mahon last week to spend a month with her parents, in Newfoundland. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Keith spent a couple of days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Chio- mey in Port Colborne. Mrs. Keith remained for a longer visit.
