at a number of pre -nuptial
events,
Hostesses Miss E. Gilbert,
.Virs. C. Gilbert, and Mrs. Wm.
Stoneman entertained friends
at a miscellaneous shower at
the Gilbert residence in Brant-
ford.
H. Quickfall, Bridge-
port, cousin of the bride -elect
and Mrs. W. Boettger, aunt of
the bride -elect were hostesses
at a miscellaneous shower with
relatives of the bride attending.

in her London home for a

Miss Beatrice Wilson, Toron-
to, assistant secretary of the
Board of Women was guest
speaker for the afternoon meet-
ing and told the women just
where their money went. She
took them on an imaginary trip
across Canada from Newfound-
land to Vancouver and told of
the Senior Cigizens' Homes,
meeting the boats of immi-
grants, homes for lads just out
of prison, homes for Indian
boys, hospitals in Indian com-
munities, a plane for the mis-
sionaries on the West Coast and
various other outlets for the
money that is spent at home.
The speaker pointed out that
each of these just get a small
amount and another small
amount is sent to Formosa,
Hong King, Jamacia, etc. In
closing, Miss Wilson used a
Huron Presbyterial United
Church Women attending the
second regional meeting of
North Huron at Brussels had as
shower where gifts of crystal
were presented.
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Jones
entertained the bridal couple
at a dinner party in their Lon-
don home.
The staff of Orchard Park
School, London, presented a
gift to the bride -elect at a
luncheon party, held in her
honour.
Mr, and Mrs. Robert Hexa-
mer, Brantford entertained the
bridal party in their home fol-
lowing rehearsal. Mr. and Mrs
Ross Wells, Brantford, were co -
hosts.

morning session, Mrs. M. J.
Murray of Lambeth, third vice-
president, London Conference,
who took as her subject, "Chris-
tian Citizenship and Social
Action", The speaker took a '
few moments to point out the
importance of the study packets
and stressed the use of these.
She also spoke on "Mother
in the Home". Years ago
mother's role was in the home
but today she is expected to
take active parts in outside
organizations and still be the
stalwart one to look to when
trouble arises and she must be
ready to fill her role at all
times.
She also spoke on racial dis-
crimination: Color, whether

FOUNTAIN OVERFLOW
Lough Neagh, 100 feet deep,
is the largest lake in Northern
Ireland. According to Irish
legend, the lake was formed
when a fountain in an ancient
city overflowed, and the city
still lies on the bottom. It is
also believed by the Irish in
that part that the waters of
Lough Neagh will petrify any-
one bathing in them.
Exchange Vows In Bluevale
Rev. T. E. Kennedy of-
ficiated at the Bluevale Pres-
byterian Church last Saturday
afternoon, when Helen Roberta
Rose became the bride of John
Charles Elliott, of Cornwall,
Ontario.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James Rose,
Grand Bank, Newfoundland,
and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Elliott of Blue -
vale.
The church was tastefully
decorated with baskets ofyel-

Nora Moffatt.
The bride, given in mar-
riage by her father, was dress-
ed in a floor -length peau de
soie gown of satin with three-
quarter length sleeves, and bell
skirt, accented with brocaded
appliques trimmed with seed
pearls. A crown of seed pearls
and crystals held the veil. She
carried a corsage of gardenias,
yellow roses and ivy.
Maid -of -honor was Miss
Phyllis Graham, of Ottawa,
who wore a street -length dress

of tropical water chiffon with
matching shoes and pillbox
headdress. She carried a cor-
sage of bronze and yellow
mums.
The best man was Allen
Nicol of Ottawa, Mr, Irving
Elliott, of Listowel, a cousin
of the groom, was usher.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held in the Sun-
day school room of the church,
where the bride's mother re-
ceived wearing a teal blue
boucle suit with a white feather
hat and pink carnations, The
groom's mother assisted in a
ruby red double knit suit set off
with black accessories and
white carnations.
Following the reception a
dinner for 20 was enjoyed with
the Boundary Group of the
Ladies' Aid of the church cater-
ing. The tables were decorat-
ed with the wedding cake and
bouquets of roses.
Guests at the wedding came
from Grand Bank, Newfound-
land, Ottawa, Metcalfe, Ed-
monton, Toronto and Listowel.
For her wedding trip the
bride chose a beige velourette
two-piece suite, winter white
hat and brown shoes. Her cor-
sage was yellow and brown mums.
Following their honeymoon
the couple will reside at 105
Gloucester Ave, , Cornwall,
The bride is a graduate of Ot-
tawa University and is employed
on the staff of the Cornwall
General Hospital, The groom,
a graduate of the Wingham Dis-
trict High School, is employed
at the Saunders Hydro plant in
the same city.
