Once again 36 friends got
together for the start of our 63-
64 season. As the president,
Percy Stainton, was unable to
be with us in time, his very
capable wife, Rene, welcomed
us on his behalf. New rules
were explained, and after wish-
ing us luck, we were on our
way. By the moans and groans
filling the air, it sounded as if
everyone was having a rough

ferently.
Harold wondered, for awhile,
if the counter pin had gum on
it, but it wasn't too long before
he played his usual good game.
Rita suffered a leg injury at the
beginning of the summer and is
still limping, but being a good
sport, she bowled her three
games as usual. No spares, al-
though we missed our friend,
Eric. 1 know I told you all to
exercise those right arms, but I
think the Crees overdid it. Take
it easy, Crees, the season is
just beginning.
Standings are as follows:
Crees, 9; Iroquois, 5; Sioux, 5;
Hurons, 4; Apaches, 2; Mo-
hawks, 1.
Dot Bain and Shirley Storey
tied for ladies' high single with
241, but Dot Bain took the high
triple with 634. Men's high
single went to Gary Storey with
295 and the high triple to Har-
old Wild with 630. The Storeys
were really in there pitching.
A very nice start!

High single, Louise Wel-
wood, 277; high triple, Louise

As a result of medical re-
search, rheumatic fever, a
forerunner of rheumatic heart
disease, can now be prevented,
a spokesman for the Heart
Foundation pointed out recently.

lowed regarding badge supplies
and general equipment.
The Mothers' Auxiliary will
'provide these and they will be

details will be completed at a
meeting of the Group Commit-
tee.
Many inquiries regarding
uniforms for Cubs and Scouts
have been received. These
may be sent to the Scout House
Tuesday or Thursday night,
stating size and the price. Also
the Cubs may bring a written
request concerning the acquir-
ing of a uniform and these will

time long pants may be worn,
instead of the regulation navy

in the Community Centre with
game for the Goodyears, allow-

three runs in the 8th inning on

other pitchtr, Bill Hotchkiss,

Goodyears were Ken Saxton
with two doubles and a single,
Jim Bain and Alvin Baker with
a double and single each. Mac

Goes 17 Innings
Saints Even Tight Series
The largest crowd of the
season was treated to the best
game of the season, a 17 -inn-•
ing thriller in the Wingham par
on Saturday night. The St.
Clements -St. Agatha Saints
cause out on top of a 3-2 score
to even the best of seven series
at three games a piece with the
Brophy Goodyears.
Don Quehl was the big hero
for the Saints, hitting a home
run in the 6th and another
homer in the 17th with Andy
Sararas on base, after being hit
by a pitch, to account for all
the Saints' runs. The Good -
years scored a run in the 6th
and another in the 17th.
Bill Hotchkiss hit one of the
longest balls of the season for a
home run in the 16th inning
which would have won the gam -
for the Goodyears, but was call-
ed out by the umpire for not
touching 2nd base. Jim Bain
and Gary Storey were the Good -
years' best hitters with two hits
apiece.
