BLUEVALE—The October
meeting of the Bluevale Pres-
byterian W.M.S. was held in
the form of a Fall Thankoffer--
ing in the school room of the
church with the ladies of the
Bluevale United Church as
guests.
The president, Mrs. Bernard
Thomas, opened the meeting
with the theme "Thanksgiving;
In Everything Give Thanks,"
A hymn was then sung. The
Thanksgiving Creed was recited
in unison. Mrs, R. J. Mc-
Murray gave several verses on
Thanksgiving as the Scripture.
Mrs, Raymond Elliott led in
prayer and the roll call was an-
swered with a verse containing
the word " Thanks".
The minutes of the last meet-
ing
eeting were read by the secretary,
Mrs. McMurray. Business was
discussed and a hymn was sung.
A life membership was present-
ed to Rev. T. E. Kennedy for
his faithful service by Mrs.
Kennedy. Mrs. Wm. Robertson
sang a solo. The offering was
taken up by Mrs. Eldon Kirton
and Mrs. Murray Chapman,
and dedicated by Mrs. Thomas.
DONNYBROOK
Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Jef-
ferson returned hon -ie last Sat-
urday from a two weeks' motor
trip to the east coast. Miss
Gladys Jefferson, who has been
staying, at the Jefferson home
in their absence, returned to
Woodstock on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Reihl,
Michael, Bruce and Jimmy of
Stratford visited with Mr. and
Mrs. James Leddy on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Robin-
son, Jim, Bill, Judy and Janice
visited Sunday with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Gershom Johnston
of Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs, Stuart Cham- -
ney, Diane, Donna, Barbara,
Joyce and Steven visited Sun-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Chamney and family of Auburn.

Dy Giving to Missions
The guest speaker, Mrs.
Gordon Fish of Wingharn, was
introduced. Her topic was
taken from Psalm 68:19," 61ess-
ed be the Lord who daily load-
eth us with benefits, even the
God of our salvation." She
said that our offering should be
the first fruits of our hands and
not what is left over, and that
we should not be selfish and
unthankful in our ways. We
can show our thanks by giving
untiringly to missions, which
need our support and prayers.
Mrs. Ross Mann thanked
Mrs. Fish and presented her
with a gift. Mr. Kennedy clos-
ed with a benediction. A
social hour was held and Mrs.
Geo. Hetherington thanked the
Bluevale W.M.S. for their
hospitality, to which Mrs.
Thomas replied.
Discuss Improvements to
Church Inferior al UCW
BLUEVALE--The United
Church Women held their Thank -
offering meeting in the church
on October 3rd.
The president, Mrs. Alex
Corrigan, presided for the ht's-
iness session when many items
were discussed chiefly relating
to some improvements in the
church interior. Mrs. Charles
Mathers, Mrs. Mel Craig and
Mrs. Charles Bosman were ap-
pointed a committee to make
arrangements.
Mrs. G. C. Mitchell, Mrs.
W. J. Johnston, Mrs. Millon
Fraser and Mrs. Sparling John-
ston were appointed delegates
to the regional U.C.W. meet-
ing at Brussels on October 10th.
It was decided to hold the an-
nual bazaar at the end of the
month, the leaders of the groups
to make plans.
Mrs. G. C. Mitchell had
charge of the study program.
Thanksgiving was her theme.
She said gratitude is essential to
a full life. We should be thank-
ful for spiritual blessings, not
only material ones.
Mrs. Walter Willits contri-
buted a solo, Mrs. W. J. John-
ston gave the study on Korea,
Couple Honored
BLUEVALE--An enjoyable
party was given in the com-
munity hall on Friday evening
to honor Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
McFarlane (formerly Loretta
Fischer), recently married. A
large number of relatives and
friends attended.
Miss Kathy Craig read an
address and Miss Shirley John-
ston presented a purse of money
to the bride and groom. Danc-
ing to the music of Wilbee's
Orchestra was enjoyed and re-
freshments were served.

Chooses Delegates
For Presbyterial
FORDWICH—The Afternoon
Unit of the Fordwich United
Church Women met in the Sun-
day School rooms. Mrs. Wray
Cooper presided, using for the
theme of the meeting, "Thanks-
giving". The devotion reading
was the story "Count Your Many
Blessings", a story of the Pil-
grim Fathers.
Mrs. Wm, Lloyd offered
prayers and read a poem. "A
Woman Who Counts Her Bless-
ings' was given by Mrs. George
Pittendreigh. The new study
on India was introduced by Mrs.
Verna Galbraith, Mrs, Wm.
Wilson, Mrs. Clarence Cars-
well, Mrs. E. Hainstock and
Mrs. Pearl Patterson.
Delegates chosen to attend
the Presbyterial in Brussels,
Oct. 10 are Mrs. Crosby Sot-
hern and Mrs. C. Carswell.
The Fall Thanksgiving offering
service of U.C.W. will be in
the church, October 16th at
8:15 p.m, Mrs. Stapleton of
Listowel will be guest speaker
and show slides. Mayne and
Newbridge U.C.W. will be in-
vited for the special service.
Mrs. E. Hainstock closed
the meeting with prayer. The
ladies quilted during the after-
noon. Lunch was served by Mrs,
Stanley Bride, Mrs, C. Cars-
well and Mrs. Glen Johnston,
telling of its history and the
work of the church in South
Korea where there are devoted
members. This part is largely
agricultural, The people have
had much hardship, owing to
the recent war with North Korea.
Mrs. W. J. Johnston, Mrs.
Ed. Barnard, Mrs. Spading
Johnston and Mrs. Mel Craig re-
ceived birthday greetings.
BLUEVALE
Rev. D. W. Clark, of Wing -
ham preached in the United
Church on Sunday, owing to
the illness of Rev. G. C. Mit-
chell. Communion service was
held.
Mrs. Ross Douglas returned
to Toronto after a few weeks'
visit with her sisters, Misses
Mary and Ruby Duff and Mrs.
M. L. Aitken.
Reeve A. D. Smith, Ray-
mond Elliott, Mac Scot and
George Greenaway visited Col-
lingwood, Meaford and other
Georgian Bay points on Sunday.
CHOIR SOCIAL
BLUEVALE—The young peo-
ple and the choir of Knox Pres-
byterian Church enjoyed a soc-
ial hour after choir practice on
Friday night for Carol Greig and
Alan Campbell, whose mar-
riage takes place on Saturday,
October 12th. They were pre-
sented with an electric coffee
percolator.
ST. HELENS
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dors-
cht attended the Axehorn-Parr
wedding at Pickering on Satur-
day. Miss Nancy borscht was
an attendant.
Nancy Dorscht, who is at-
tending Lougheed's Business
College in Kitchener, spent the
week -end at her home here.
Miss Nancy Curran, who is
attending Well's Academy in
London, was a recent visitor
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Curran.
Misses Isa and Jean Austin
of Listowel and Mrs. Grace
Leask of Uxbridge were recent
visitors with Miss W. D. Ruther-
ford.
Mrs. Lorne Woods spent the
past week with her daughter,
Mrs. Ray Hawley at Oshawa.
Mrs. Hawley, who recently
underwent major surgery, return-
ed to the Woods' home on Sun-
day.
Mr, and Mrs. Mel Brown and
Mrs. Mabel Murdie of Kitchen-
er spent the week -end at their
cottage and with Mr. and Mrs.
Lorne Woods,
St. Helens United Church
Anniversary will be held on
Oct. 13 at 11 and 7.30 p.m.
Rev. W. R. Tristram will be in
charge of both services.

On 89th Birthday
FORDWICH--A family din-
ner was held Sunday at the
hone of Mr, and Mrs. Warren
Zutbrigg in honour of Mr. Wm.
Boekler's 89th birthday. Mr.
and Mrs. John Boekler of Gor-
rie also attended.
Mr. Boekler has two daugh-
ters, Mrs, Warren Zurbrigg and
Mrs. Bob Hibberd of Fordwich,
with whom he resides.
