Marks 25 Years
In Whitechurch
Garage Business
Tom Morrison, well-known
Whitechurch garage and service
station operator, is markinghis
25th year in business in that
village this year. Tom and his
wife, Connie, also operate a
snack bar in conjunction with
other activities.
Tom is a native of Kinloss
Township, learning his trade at
the Dominion Trade School in
Toronto in 1927. After serving
his apprenticeship in a Toronto
garage, he returned to the trade
school, where he was an in-
structor for two years, after
which he worked in a number
of Toronto garages until he pur-
chased his business in White-
church. The same year he
married the former Constance
Buckton of Toronto, The
couple have one daughter, Mari-
lyn, (Mrs. Frank Stockhi,ll)
living in Timmins and two sons,
Jaynes and Kenneth, attending
school and assisting their father
in the garage,
Mr. Morrison has operated
the Whitechurch establishment
continuously since 1938, with
the exception of five years
spent in the army, four of
which were overseas.
Tom says that business has
been good and that a large part
of his time is taken up with
repairing farm tractors, often
over 50 per year. M well he
serves the area with a portable
gas and electric welding ser,
vice, His garage and service
station are well-equipped for
all kinds of automotive mainly;-
tenance and repair.

Inspector Born Here
Robert S. McBurney, B.A.,
Paed, former public school
inspector for Kenora-Keewatin
district of Ontario, died at his
residence, 130 Angeline St.,
Lindsay, Wednesday of last
week.
Born near Wingham, June
1890 he was the son of the late
Adam McBurney and Mary
Robertson, and was predeceased
by one sister Annie H. McBur-
ney in 1956.
He attended public and high
school in Wingham and the Col-

He received his B.A. in 1935
from Western University, Lon-
don, and his B. Peed. from the
University of Toronto in 1940.
Prior to becoming inspector,
Mr. McBurney taught for 20
years as principal in the ele-
mentary schools in Port Arthur.
In 1941 he was appointed in-
spector of the Kenora district
and continued to serve in that
capacity for the next 20 years.
During his term of office as
public school inspector he
made a marked contribution to
education by the establishment
of small schools in remote
lumber camps and in many
isolated mining communities
which were inaccessible ex-
cept by plane or boat, thus
affording to every child educa-
tional facilities even in the
remotest areas.
He was a former member of
the Masonic Lodge and until
his retirement in 1960, a faith-
ful member of Knox United
Church, Kenora.
Surviving is his wife, the
former Mildred Wilson of Lind-
say.
Funeral service was held on
Friday at 2.30 p.m. from the
Stoddart funeral home, Lindsay,
with interment in Riverside
cemetery,
Relatives attending from
this district were Adam Mc-
Burney, Jack McBurney, Jim
McBurney, Mr. and Mrs. Har-
old Kerr, Mrs. Jas. Coultes,
Mrs, R. S. Reavie, Mrs. Bob
Arbuckle and Elmer Arbuckle,
and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Arbuckle
of Ottawa.

was administered last Sunday
morning in the Wingham Unit-
ed Church when the following
children were baptised:
