Plans were made for the ex* hibit for the Howick Fall Fair. Mrs, Anson Demerling con- verted the program, which took the form of a skit between two clubs, the "Do It Righters" and the " Tweedle Dums". The "Do It Righters" used the correct procedure for their meeting and the "Tweedle Duras". the wrong procedure. The skit was instructive as well as humorous. A very successful auction followed the meeting. The articles were donated by the , members. Mrs. Anson Demer- ling was the auctioneer, assist- ed by Mrs. Scott Clarkson and Miss Minnie McElwain, Ice cream and angel cake were served at the close of the meet- ing. Presentation For Newlyweds FQRDWICH—A presentation and dance was held in the Ford- wich Community hall on Sat- urday night in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Ian Pittendreigh, newlyweds. Miss Audrey Rut - tan read the address and the young couple was presented with step tables and a clothes hamper. The young couple thanked everyone and music for dancing was supplied by Timm's Orchestra. HOLD SHOWER FOR MISS P. ARMSTRONG FORDWICH—Mrs. Harold Foster, Mrs. Bruce Armstrong and Mrs, Scott Clarkson enter- tained at the former's home Wednesday night for a miscel- laneous shower in honour of Miss Doreen Armstrong, bride of Saturday. Contests and games were Wingham Advance -Times, Thursday, Sept. 26, '1963 ,- Page 3 Forciwich News Misses Jean and Marjorie Foster were week -end visitors with their mother, Mrs, Ruby Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Hargrave and sons visited Sun- day with Mr, and Mrs. Jack Reid. Miss Elizabeth Armstrong of Toronto Sick Children's Hosp- ital visited over the week -end with her parents and attended the Crowder -Armstrong wed- ding Saturday in Trinity Angli- can Church. Miss Sharon Pollock of Kit- chener spent the week -end with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Cruick shank and family of Wingham enjoyed during the evening when the bride -elect received many lovely gifts. Mrs. Jack Toner and family of Palmerston visited Friday with her mother, Mrs. Henry Espensen. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Douglas were guests at the Eadie - Hoover wedding Saturday .in Brussels United Church. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Schaefer spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs, Don Schae- fer in Montreal. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patterson of Toronto were week -end vis- itors one day last week. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cooper were Mr. and Mrs. Allan Cooper of Fort DONNYBROOK Quite a number from Donny- brook attended the anniversary services at Westfield United Church on Sunday. Colin Fing- land of Wingham was guest speaker for the day. Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Jeffer- son left last Monday morning for a two weeks' motor trip to the east coast, Miss Gladys Jefferson of Woodstock is stay- ing at the Jefferson home in their absence. Mrs. Wesley Jefferson, Deb- bie, Brian, Gerald and Doreen spent Tuesday with her grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs, Willows Mountain of Londesboro. ST. HELENS Mr. and Mrs. Willis Corri- gan of Barrie spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Allan Mill- er. Over the week -end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Webb were Mr, and Mrs. David Gilmour and Jefferey of Tor- onto and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pearce of Brantford. Mr. Terry Wilson left on Monday to commence his sec- ond year in Honour Science at University of Western Ontario. On Tuesday Lynda and Mel- vin Lyons entertained 28 Little friends at their double birthday party. JUNIORS WIN TWICE WHITECIJURCH--The Juniors won their game 11-2 in Wing - ham park on Friday evening, against Milverton and again on Tuesday, in Milverton 7�0, This gives the Juniors two games of the three out of five series in the windup of the W. O. A, A. competition. Mrs. J. Mosure Was 90 Monday FORDWICH---Mrs, Jennie Mos- ure of Fordwich celebrated her 90th birthday on Monday, September 23rd. She has lived in Howick Township all her life and is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Gamble. She has one brother, Wilfred of Cochrane, who planned on being down for her birthday. Although her hearing and eyesight are failing, she still lives alone in her own home and is able to do her own house- work. She also attends the Ladies' Orange Lodge meetings. She is a charter member of the lodge and is a member of Ford., wich Anglican Church. In the summer she attends the meet- ings of the W.A. She is al- ways interested in happenings around the village and loves company. Members of the W.A. and neighbours enjoyed a social time with her at her home on Monday night. Erie and Mrs. Norman Stephen- son and children of Ethel. Mr. Everitt Cooper of Clinton was a week -end visitor with his parents. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Tom McClement were Mr and Mrs. Gary McClement and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McClem- ent and children and Mrs. Ida Gallagher all of Listowel. Miss Betty McClement and Paul Schaefer of Kitchener were week -end visitors at the same home.
