IN CASA INTERMEDIATE C
Merlin downed the Wingham
Brophy Goodyears in the first
game of a best -of -three series
in O. A.S. A. Intermediate C
play in Wingham on Saturday
night. The score was 3-1.
The boys from the south tool,
the lead in the second inning
when they scored a run on a
walk, passed ball and a single.

In the eighth they sewed it up
with two more runs scored on
two singles and a triple..
In the Goodyears' half of the
eighth, a run was scored when
Barry Fryfogle led off with a
triple and scored on an outfielc
flyby Ken Saxton.

Golfers Here
The Wingham lady golfers
entertained nine lady golfers
from Fergus on September 10,
The ladies matchedoff and
played 18 holes on a beautiful
autumn day,
The best scores were held
by Edith Rathbun and her sister
Dorothy Singer of Sarnia for
low gross; Irene White and Kay
Oldfield, Fergus, for low net.
Lucky draw was won by Vera
Nicklasson, Fergus.
Before returning home the
ladies enjoyed a bountiful pot
luck supper provided by the
lady golfers. Members are ask-
ed to remember that the Carl-
ing Trophy and the Dorothy
Conron Rose Bowl are to be
played for Thursday this week.

Jamestown Bali Teams
Capture Two Trophies
The vicinity of Jamestown is
the proud owner of two softball
trophies this season. The
Jamestown Intermediates were
successful in trimming the
Kurtzville team to win the Tri -
county Softball Trophy.
Ceremony for
Gas Turn -fn
An official ceremony mark-
ing the arrival of natural gas in
the Durham, Hanover, Walker-
ton area has been scheduled
for Thursday, September 26th
at 11.30 a.m.
The natural gas turn -on will
take place at Union Gas Com-
pany's newly built gate station
on No. 4 Highway, just west
of Durham. Invitations are be-
ing extended to almost 100
municipal and business leaders
from throughout the area.
The ceremony will feature
the lighting of an olympic-
style torch symbolizing the in-
troduction of natural gas to the
three communities. Among
those participating will be F.
R. Palin, Union Gas President
and general manager.
Following the turn -on a
reception will be held at the
Canadian Legion Hall in Han-
over.
Actual service to customers
is expected to commence Oct-
ober lst in Durham, a week
later in Hanover and by mid-
October in Walkerton.
Kitchener Mallon
Joins CTV Network
CKCO-TV, the Kitchener -
Waterloo station on Channel 13
has changed over from CBC
programming to CTV, begin-
ning last Sunday, September
15th, CKCO's Promotion Dir-
ector, William Whiting an-
nounced,
.The reason for leaving the
CBC, he stated, was due to the
duplication of programs in the
many areas that CKCO-TV
serves.
Since the changeover last
Sunday, television viewers in
this area now have a wider
selection of programs, since
they are now able to see both
national television networks.

Council Meets
Reeve A. D. Smith presided
at the regular meeting of Turn -
berry Township council, when
communications were read from
the Department of Highways,
Stratford, and St. Michael's
Hospital, Toronto.
It was moved that B. M.
Ross of Goderich be engaged as
engineer for the culvert on
Powell's sideroad, •

S.S. No. 10 Morris, known
as Ramsey's school, in the
Jamestown district, were suc-
cessful in beating the S,S, No.
3 school team to win the Morris
Twp. School League Trophy.
They were also presented with
the George Baker Trophy.
The players on the team are
David Cowing, Neil Gowing,
Lloyd Peacock, Gladys Jermyn,
Brian Adams, Wayne Johnston,
Ruth Jermyn, Arm McKercher,
Bonnie Johnston with alternates
Jeff Thornton and Ken Gowing.
The manager and coach of the
team is Jim Adams.
Wingham Golfers
At Port Elgin
Several golfers from Wing -
ham attended the Saugeen Golf
Tournament held recently at
Port Elgin, including Omar
Haselgrove, Matt Boyd, Ian
MacLaurin, Glenn Madill, Jack
Lloyd, John Cruickshank, Har-
vey Fisher and Warren Callan.
Jack Lloyd won second low
net, B. Flight; Warren Callan,
second low gross, B. Flight and
Ian MacLaurin, fifth low gross,
B. Flight.
