Mr. and Mrs. Stirling Haskins, Lion's Head, visited Tuesday at the same home and called on other friends. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Edgar and Brian, Brampton, spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Edgar. Congratulations to Miss San- dra Edgar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Edgar, who grad- uated Wednesday at the Guelph General Hospital. Miss Sharon Hubbard is teaching in Minto Twp. and Wm. Keil is teaching at Brus- sels public school. Rev. J. Wildred Hird is travelling by plane to visit his daugher, Mrs. J. A. Ward, in Halifax and will attend the wedding of his grandson, Alli- son Dale Ward and Miss Diane Carolyn Moreasher of Fleming Glen, Armdale. The wedding will take place in Oxford Unit- ed Church, Halifax on Sept- ember 28. Mr. Robin Bolander spent the week -end at Strathroy and attended Western Fair, London. Mt. Fred Taylor has been Bazaar Closes U.C.W. Meeting DONNYBROOK --The Sept- ember meeting of the U.C.W. was held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. William Har- dy. The theme was given by Mrs. Gordon Naylor, who had charge of the program. After singing a hymn, Mrs. Charles Jefferson read the Scripture lesson. Mrs. Edward Robinson gave a reading, followed by prayer. A second hymn was sung and Mrs. Tom Armstrong took charge of the chapter in the study book, "The Atone- ment'; Susan Thompson and Barbara Chamney sang a duet "Jesus Bids Us Shine ', Mrs. Stuart Chamney read the minutes of the previous meeting and Judy Robinson received the offering. Mrs. Sam Thompson had charge of the business, when plans were made to have a family night in October. A bale is to !Ye packed on Wednes day at Mrs. Morley Johnston's home. After the singing of a hymn, Mrs. Naylor closed the meeting with prayer. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Stuart Chamney and Mrs. Charles Jefferson. DONNYBROOK Hugh Jefferson of Port Arthur who is on the staff of the Can- adian General Electric Co., • recently returned from Andi- meshk, Iran, where he hasbeen working. He spent last week with his uncle, Charles Jeffer- son, Mrs. Jefferson and family and also visited with other rel- atives. Mrs. Margaret Beese of Morriston, Misses Jessie and Minnie Dunkie of Moffat called on the Jefferson relatives on Wednesday. Miss Lucy Thompson of Bronte was at her home here over the week -end. Successful anniversary ser- vices were held in Donnybrook United Church on Sunday. A former minister, Rev. Harold Snell of London was guest speaker for both services. Special music was supplied for the occasion. Anniversary services will be held at Westfield United Church next Sunday, September 22, at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Bermuda Scenes Shown at Church WHITECHURCH—Many of the ladies of the U.C.W. of the United Church met on Sat- urday with the Messengers in the S.S. room of the church. The young folks presented their program and then Mrs. Jas. Moffat showed slides of beauti- ful homes, scenes, flowers, churches and trees taken when in Bermuda on their recent wedding trip. They travelled over the island on powered bicycles, as there are few cars there, and only those who have lived there for five years, have a license to drive. All enjoyed the social time that followed. To err is human.
