Fall Thankoffering were made.
The treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Eldon Kirton. The of-
fering was taken up by Mrs.
Kirton and dedicated by Mrs.
Mundell,
The topic, "The Burning
Bush" , was given by Mrs. Harry
Elliot. She explained this as
the setting of Presbyterianism
relating back to Moses and the
Israelites and their burning bush.
Through the years it has been
the fire of persecution, but now
this motto of the Presbyterian
Church is a true fire always
ablaze. It means that Christians
must prove their faith by being
missionaries, especially at
home. The Scripture reading
and comments were given by
Mrs. Burns Moffatt, Mrs. Kir-
ton led in prayer and Mrs. Mun-
dell closed with a benediction.

The by-law amending the
1962 by-law on the Finlay
Drain was passed and the road
superintendent was instructed to
advertise for tenders for snow-
plowing, the tenders to state
description of equipment and
to be in the hands of the super-
intendent by noon on October
15.
It was moved to give the
Huron County Plowmen's
Assoc, a grant of $25.00. The
tender of Shantz and flicks
Construction Ltd. of Waterloo
was accepted for the construct-
ion of a township Public Works
garage at $20,913, subject to
the approval of the department
of Highways.

t Anniversary
BLUEVALE--Rev. J, C. Brit-
ton, B.A., of Seaforth United
Church, was the guest speaeer
at the anniversary, services in
Bluevale United Church.
At the morning service the
subject of his address was, "The
Also Rens", referring to Paul's
comparing of life to a race to
be won. In the evening the
speaker showed how "The Sim-
ple Life" would he attained by
obedience to the command
"Thou shalt love the Lord with
all thy heart", to enjoy peace
in spite of complexities of life.
The choir, under the direct-
ion of Mrs, Carl Johnston, or-
ganist, sang the anthem "Great
Is the Lord" and in the evening
"Blessed Art Thou". Mr, Earl
Walls, of Arva, contributed
the solo, "I Heard the Voice of
Jesus Say", at the morning ser-
vice. In the evening the quar-
tette, Mr. Harvey Sperling,
Mr. Harold Robinson and Mrs.
David Neilson of Gorrie, and
Mr, Carl Johnston of Bluevale
sang, "I Want My Life to Tell
for Jesus".

Mr, and Mrs. Murray Wilson
of West Wawanosh, Miss Irene
Jefferson of Dunnville, Mrs,
Margaret Leddy, Mr, and Mrs.
Hilliard Jefferson and Linda of
Donnybrook attended a recep-
tion at Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jef-
fersons' in Newmarket last Sat-
urday, in honor of Mr. and Mrs,
David Jefferson who had just
returned home from a tour of
Europe. Sharon Jefferson, who
had spent the past week at New-
market, retumed home with
her parents.
Jane Thompson, daughter of
Mr, and Mrs, Sam Thompson,
had her tonsils removed on Fri-
day morning at Wingham and
District Hospital.
Anniversary services will be
observed in Donnybrook United
Church, Sunday, September
15 at 11 a. m. and 8 p.m. Rev,
Harold Snell of London will be
guest minister for both services.

DONNYBROOK—On Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. William Webster
of St. Helens were guests at the
home of her brother, Mr, and
Mrs. Harvey Taylor of Kinburn,
when a celebration was held in
honor of Mr, and Mrs. Webst-
er's 50th wedding anniversary.
The bride of 50 years ago is
a daughter of the late Mr, and
Mrs. Henry Taylor, and was
the former Edna Jane Taylor,
Mr, Webster is a son of the late
Mr, and Mrs. John Webster.
They have lived on the Webster
homestead all their married
lives, where Mr. Webster was
born and raised.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Webster
have been active in church and
community affairs. They have
two daughters, Mrs. Cliff Hen-
derson (Jean) of Brucefield and
Mrs. Stuart Chamney (Lois) of
Donnybrook; a son, George,
who lives on the family farm
and ten grandchildren.
Prior to the Sunday celebra-
tion the couple had been sur-
prised by family and friends
when a party was held at their
home on Tuesday evening of
last week. They received
many lovely gifts, including a
bedspread from the neighbors,

sisters were present. Brothers
and sisters of Mr. Webster are

for its first meeting of the sea-
son on Tuesday in the Commun-
ity Centre with 20 Cubs and
four leaders present, Akela
(Mrs, Ken Wheeler) opened wit;
the Grand Howl followed by the
Lord's prayer. During inspect-
ion the Red Six collected the
most points. Brian Jamieson is
the sixer,
Raksha (Mrs. Clare Van -
Camp) had a game. The Cubs
then practised skipping, hop-
ping, etc., for the field day to
be held September 14 at Holy-
rood.
