Mr, James Lamont spent
last week isiting with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lam-
ont, of Manson, Manitoba.
Keith Pietch had an appen-
dectomy on Wednesday morn-
ing in the Wingham and Dist-
rict Hospital.
Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. James Lamont were Mr.
and Mrs. Willie McLennan and
sons of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Camp-
bell and Mr. and Mrs. Ira
Campbell visited recently with
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ansley of
Thessalon on the occasion of
their 40th wedding anniversary.
The last of the cement was
poured for the new floor in the
Belgrave Arena on Saturday,

Court of Revision
Set for October 1
Morris Township Council
approved the agreement with
Blyth Fire Area for the next ten
years, commencing August 5,
when Reeve Stewart Procter pre-
sided for the regular meeting
on September 3.
The resignation of Joseph C.
Smith, grader operator for 251
years, was regretfully accepted,
The assessment roll, as present-

ed and court of revision on the
assessment roll will be held
October 7 at 2 p.m.
It was decided to advertise

Former Morris
Resident Dies
BELGRAVE--Mr. and Mrs.
James Michie of Morris have
received word of the death in
Regina of Mrs. Carrie Forsyth,
widow of the late Simon Forsyth
formerly of Morris Township.
She leaves to mourn her pass-
ing her only son, Geddes, with
whom she made her home since
the death of her husband; two
grandsons, one great grandson,
a brother, Harry Brandon of
Brodrick, and a half brother
and sister, Roy and Stella Bran-
don of Alameda, Sask.
Relatives attended the funer-
al from Frobisher, and Alameda

School Board on September 5,
the payment of the following

The secretary was instructed
to advertise in local papers for
applications for a maintenance
man to do the general repair
work at each of the Morris
schools. The next regular
meeting will be held on Octo-
ber 3.
ATTENDANCE PINS were handed out to
Jack Gorbutt, left, and Mrs. M. Temple -
men at the joint installation of officers
of the Kinsmen and Kinettes on Monday
evening. Jack has registered 13 years
without missing a meeting and Mrs.
Templeman twelve years. Right is Dis-
trict Deputy Governor Bev Matthews, of
Shelburne, who handed out the awards.
Twelve other members also received
awards for perfect attendance over var-

New Study Books Introduced
As UCW Evening Unit Meets
BELGRAVE--Mrs. Stanley
Hopper was hostess for the Sept-
ember meeting of the Evening
Unit of the United Church Wo-
men held on Wednesday of last
week at her home. The meet-
ing was opened by the leader,
Mrs. Stanley Hopper, with a
hymn, followed by the minutes
read by Mrs. Ken Barbour. Mrs.
Alan Dunbar gave the treasur-
er's report. A card of thanks
was read from Mrs. Duncan
Campbell. The penny collect-
ion was received and there were
eight hospital and six visits to
the sick and shut-in recorded,

was announced for October 10,
to be held in Brussels, The
Messengers and
Explorers Meet
BELGRAVE--Graduation ser-
vices were held for the Explorer
and Messengers at Knox United
Church, on Sunday. Mrs. Roy
McSween was in charge and
opened with the hymn "Tell Me
the Stories of Jesus".
Those graduating from Mes-
sengers to Explorers were Step-
han Fear, Kenneth Hopper,
Grant Vincent, Brenda Johnston,
Mary Anne Wheeler. Those
from Junior Messengers to Mes-
sengers were Glen Nixon, Brad-
ley Campbell, Michael Walsh.
The groups then went into their
own rooms.
The Explorers have Mrs. Roy
McSween as their leader with
Mrs. George Johnston and Miss
Marilyn Campbell assisting.
Their meeting opened with a
hymn, followed by the minutes
by Joan Bosman and the treas-
urer's report by Mary Grasby.
Mrs, McSween then explained
the map of India. Neil Vincent
and Neil Beiman received the
offering, The study book," The.
Golden Coin", by Grace W.
McGavran was started. It tells
how Daud, the son of a village
family new to Christian faith,
changes from a lazy shirker
into a doer and a leader. Daud
learns not to count on a pagan
talisman to get him out of
trouble. The roll call was an-
swered by 27 members, Brenda
Johnston is to be pianist for the
next meeting.
The Messengers have Mrs.
Jack Higgins as their leader
with Marie Coulter and Linda
Coultes as assistants. Their
study book will be "The Buffalo
and the Bell" by Myra Scovel,
and is a story about Kiran and
her family and neighbours, the
family water buffalo and the
new church bell. Kiran's legs
were very sore when they got
burned, but many happy things
came about after she went to
the Christian hospital.
Mts. Stan Hopper leads the
Junior Messenger Group and has
Marjorie Hopper as her assist-
ant,
offering was received and dedi-
cated,
Mrs. Sam Pletch conducted
the worship service the theme
being "Little Things". A hymn
was sung followed by Scripture
reading by Mrs. J. Coultes.
Mrs, Pletch had the devotional
talk and closed with prayer and
a hymn, Mrs. Roy McSween
introduced the new mission
study on India and the study
books, "Indian Opportunities"
and "Partners in South Asia".
She told briefly of India today,
and of the mixture of old and
new. The density of the popu-
lation staggers most tourists.
Mrs. William Coultes read two
articles, "Canadians in India"
and "An Indian in Canada".
The Bible study from the
Word and the Way on the cruci-
fixion was taken by Mrs. Ross
Anderson. Bible readings from
Acts, Corinthians, and Peter
were read in unison, Mrs. Hop-
per closed with prayer. Mrs.
George Michie conducted a
quiz on hidden books of the
Bible and Mrs. Jack Taylor and
her group served lunch. Mrs,
James Coultes will be the host-
ess for the October meeting.
The Texas businessman was
showing his daughter just re-
turned from finishing school
around the newly completed
mansion. At the swimming
pool they stopped to watch sev-
eral athletic young men diving
and stunting.
"Oh Daddy," exclaimed the
girl, "you've stocked it just
for me!"

ity Centre Board of Trustees
met on Saturday evening With
the chairman, Roy Pattison pre
siding. A motion was passed
that all tickets for the annual
turkey supper, to be held on
October 9, are to be purchased

be sold at the door.

meeting of the W. M, 5, of
Knox Presbyterian Church, was
held in the church with Mrs,
Joe Dunbar presiding, The
meeting opened with the hytnn,
"Thou Whose Almighty Word",
followed by Scripture and medi-
tation by Mrs. Alan Dunbar.
Mrs. O. G, Anderson led in
prayer.
The topic, "Western Influ-
ence on Asia and How It Could
Be Bettered", was taken by Mrs,
Garner Nicholson, A poem en-
titled "World Bible" was read
by Mrs. Stewart Cloakey. The
Glad Tidings prayer was taken
by Mrs. Cliff Purdon, The roll
call was answered with a Bible
verse on harvest, A card was
signed by the members for Mrs.
Ed Wightman. Plans were mad'
for the rally, to be held at Au-
burn on September 10. The
hymn "Lord of Light Whose
Name Outshineth" was sung.
Mrs. Dunbar offered the closing
prayer.
