Mrs. Irene Patterson of Tor- onto spent the week -end with her brother, Chas. Taylor, and with her mother, Mrs. Wm. Taylor, Walkerton. Paul Geiger of Kitchener, who spent the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan, returned home on Monday, Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Martin of Kitchener visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mar- tin. The Martin family plans to move this week to a home o the Bluevale road. Over 70 attended the Car- ruthers' picnic on Sunday last at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McKenzie at Point Clark. Carruther relatives from Bramp- ton, Georgetown, Guelph, and Owen Sound met this Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don- ald McIntyre of Ashfield. Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Hepto of Brantford and Mr. and Mrs, as. Easson of Grimsby spent th week -end with Mr. and Mrs. George Walker. Mr. Albert Terry of Parkhill spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kennedy of Marnoch Mr. and Mrs. Forest Payne of Detroit are spending a few days this week at the Kennedy home. Miss Sandra Chamney, who spent the summer months at Camp Wigwasson in the Mus- koka District, returned home on Monday. Miss Claire Chamney left on Monday to resume her teaching in a Toronto school. Mr, and Mrs. Robert Gibson of Brantford spent last week with her mother, Mrs. R. J. Currie. Mrs. Currie is spending this week at Brantford. Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft last week attended a school for leaders of the U. C. W. at Alma College, St. Thomas. Jimmie 'visited with his aunt, MissJanet Watson of Aylmer. Mrs. Bee- croft also attended the tea on Thursday for U.C.W. at West- minster College, London. Mr, and Mrs. Cameron Simmons, London, spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Martin, and with his relatives in Wing - ham. Darlene Coultes, Betty Ann Marks, Douglas Cronin and Dennis Thompson started off to No. 9, with Mrs. Bert Garniss of Morris Township as teacher. Mr, and Mrs. Harold Cong- Y• n n e 80th Birthday WHITECHURCH--Mr. Jas. St. Marie celebrated his eight- ieth birthday on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Myles St. Marie. Also present were the other members of his fam- ily, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. St. Marie and Mr. and Mrs. Thos. St. Marie of St. Catharines, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Robinson and family of Toronto, Miss Lucille St. Marie, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brennan and family of Guelph, Mr. and Mrs. Ray- mond St. Marie, Kitchener, and his brother, Mr. Anthony St. Marie of Wroxeter. Miss Jeanette Johnston, who spent the summer at the Tiffin home, returned to her home at Bel - grave last week and her sister, Linda, spent the week -end there. Barrie Tiffin of Kitchener spent last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Mc- Donald left last week for the Pacific Coast, and will visit with Mrs, Chester Coulter at Vancouver, B. C. Mr. and Mrs. Peter McDonald of Ashfield ac- companied them and will visit with his brother, Ewen, of Vic- toria, The regular September meet- ing eeting of the Women's Institute will be held in the Memorial Hall here on Tuesday evening next. The local Institute is invited to attend a meeting in Holyrood this Thursday at 2.30 p. m. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Robin- son, Garry and Ray, also Keith Robinson, Belgrave, and Brian Sanderson, Wroxeter, spent Friday last in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Alex McInnis and baby Ronald, who were liv- ing in the Purdon house on the 9th Con. of W. Wawanosh, moved on Friday to a house south of Dunlop, as Mr. Mc- Innis is employed in Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Watt and Lorraine, and Rev. Robert Watt and sons, John, Robert and James of Toronto, and Rev. and Mrs. George Watt and family of Oakville, visited on Tues- day last with Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson and sons of Feversham, at the Watt home in the village. Miss Joan Currie spent a few days last week with her aunt, Mrs. Russell Gaunt. Old friends of Mrs. Myles McMillan, a former Kinloss resident and now of Teeswater, returned home last week from St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after surgery there. She is . making a good recovery at her home. Harvey Craig spent last weel with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hall, Wing - ham, at a cottage at Craig- leigh Park in Collingwood. Mr. Lorne Scott, Mr. Robert Scott and Barry took in the bus trip to Toronto Exhibition from Wingham on Wednesday last. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ecken- swiller of Mt. Forest visited on Sunday with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Frank Eckenswiller. Lloyd Gollan of Lucknow is visiting this week at the Ecken- swilier home. Webster quietly celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage on Tuesday, September 3, Congratulations and best wishes for many more happy occasions. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Coultes and Friends Honour Miss Doris Wall WHITECHURCH— The Mem- orial Hall here was gaily dec- orated, when friends of Miss Doris Wall met last Thursday evening, to honor her prior to her marriage. She entered the hall with Miss Mary Fisher. A short program was present- ed, Donna Hutchison gave a reading, "Cooking a Husband", and Mrs, Victor Emerson read "Advice to the Bridal Party and In-laws". Miss Mary Fisher conducted a contest called "September Romance". Miss Hutchison and Miss Betty Zinn helped the bride - elect to open her many gifts, which included a frying pan, toaster, kettle, steam iron, ironing board, hand and elec- tric mixers, and an electric clock. Miss Wall thanked her friends for their kindness and for the lovely gifts. A social time was spent and lunch was served. Debra of Wallaceburg spent the week -end there, Other visito-s at the Coultes home during the week were Mr, and Mrs, Al- bert Engle and family of Gay- lord, Mich, , Mr, and Mrs. Willard Hughes of Sarnia, who also visited with Mrs, J. M. Coultes and other relatives, Mr. and Mrs, Lorne Lucas of Sarnia, and Mr, and Mrs. Maurice Young of Edengrove. Miss Florence Moir of Tor- onto spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Richardson. Mr, and Mrs. Lynne Morri- son and baby spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ches- ter Morrison of Palmerston, Mr. Lorne Forster and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and children were in London on Sunday to visit with their broth- er, John Forster, who has been a patient in Kincardine and Wingham hospitals, and is now a patient in Victoria Hospital. BUILDING HOUSE WHITECHURCH—Jack Currie has sold his farm to William Stapleton and reserved the house. Mr. Stapleton is busy erecting a new house east of the Currie home, and Mr. and Mrs. Stap- leton are residing in their trail- er. Their children, Brenda, Barbara and little David, started to No. 9, E. Wawanosh on Tuesday. G.
