Mrs. McCabe, who has been visiting here, returned to London with them, Mr, and Mrs. Oliver Riley and family, Mrs. Chas. Mc, Cutcheon, and Mr. and Mrs. Ron McMichael and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mc- Michael, all of Wroxeter, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lamont and Brenda Lee of Teeswater, were at Inverhuron on Sunday for a picnic. Mr, and Mrs. Jas. Doig, accompanied by Mr, and Mrs. Harry Gowdie of Gorrie, were in Dundalk on Sunday where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Mal colm Doig. Sunday visitors with Mr, Chas, Maxwell were Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Parks of London, Mr. Harry Maxwell and four sisters of Toronto. Miss Helen Gibson, Toronto, returned home at the week -end after visiting her sister, Mrs, A. Wearing. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Coates and Elaine, Margaret and Glenn Mapletoft, visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lucas at Southampton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hart are spending two weeks' vacation at Port Elgin. Leaders are as follows: Jun- ior class, Mrs. Howard Savage of Molesworth and Patricia Coulter; beginners, Miss Elaine Conn, Muriel Conn, Sandra Hayden; and Mrs. Les. Reynolds seniors Mrs. Kuiper and Mrs. Richardson; intermediates, Linda Johnston and other sen- ior girls. The mothers are invited to attend on Friday. Lunch will be served. Many people of the community have helped with this worthwhile project. WROXETE Friends of Mrs, Russell Walk- er will be sorry to learn she is again a patient in hospital, but we hope for a speedy recovery. Mr. John McGee, London, was home for the week -end with his parents,Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McGee, Mrs. Jas. Currie, Wingham, and Miss Mary Cowan visited Mr. Chas. Maxwell last Thurs- day. Mr, John Hupfer, Mrs. Al- onzo Sparling and Miss Hazel Sparling spent Sunday with Miss Louisa Beatty, Seaforth, and called on a former neighbour, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bolton, Winthrop. Mr, and Mrs. Walter Eaton, Aileen and Brenda, Seaforth, spent Friday with Mrs. Alonzo Sparling. UCW MEETING July Business Is Completed WHITECHURCH—The July meeting of the U.C.W. of Calvin -Brick United Church was held on Wednesday eve- ning last week at the home of Mrs. Gordon McBurney, with 25 ladies present. Several contests and games were held on the lawn and Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft, president, conducted the business meeting there. Mrs. Lawrence Taylor and Mrs. John L. Currie reported they had received two more blankets and 10 washcloths for the woolens. The U.C.W. will entertain the Messengers this week at a picnic at the home of Mrs. Norman Coultes. The registration fee for attendance at Alma College in August was sent in, and $65.00 will be sent with Belgrave funds for the furnishings for the room at Westminster College, London. Ladies decided to give money in lieu of holding a bake sale in the fall. Mrs. Taylor reported that the 160 lb, bale had been valued at $136.00 and had been sent to Toronto. Mrs. Kenneth Mason pre- sided for the devotional meet- ing and gave the call to wor- ship. Mrs. Ronald Coultes read the Scripture and Mrs. Mason gave the meditation talk, Mrs. Coultes led in the missionary prayer. All sang the hymn, "We Give Thee But Thine Own". Mrs. Mason gave a very interesting talk on China, from the study book, "The Rim of Asia". A mission ary skit, "Bow Before the Wind' was presented by Mrs. Cecil Coultes, Mrs, Lawrence Tay- lor, Mrs, Roy Dawson and Mrs. John Jamieson. Doris Coultes sang a solo and Miss Agatha Coultes gave a very interesting talk on the course that she had been study- ing at Fulton, Missouri, for the past six months, on mental rehabilitation work in hospitals Mrs. Beecroft thanked her. Mrs. Harold Anderson was presented with a remembrance from the group, before she leaves for her new home in London next month. Mrs. Anderson thanked the ladies and closed the meeting with prayer. A delicious lunch was served for the birthday tea, by Mrs. Gordon McBurney's group. SERVICES AT UNITED CHURCH WHITECHURCH--Rev. T. E. Kennedy of Bluevale Pres- byterian Church, who has had charge of the services in the United Church here for July, leaves next week on a trip to the West Coast. Rev. George C. Mitchell will have charge of the United services in Aug- ust and will preach here at 2 p.m., with the service with- drawn here next Sunday, Aug- ust 4. The meeting of the U.C.W. of the United Church will be held on Wednesday, August '7 at the home of Mrs. Russell Gaunt at 2 p.m. with Mrs. Dan Tiffin, convener of the program committee in charge. This was a typographi- cal error, Mr. is really a detective in the police farce:' THE NEW HOWICK TOWNSHIP AREA SCHOOL is rapidly nearing completion and it is expected to be ready for use at the first of September. The school will handle all the pupils from the township and is situated about a mile west of the Fordwich road on No. 87 Highway. Whitechurch News Misses Linda and Gail Hen- derson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Henderson of Listowel, spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and Mrs. Wm. Dawson, who also visited at the Purdon home at St. Helens on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gershom Johnston visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mc- Michael of Seaforth, On Thu.s- day they visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnston of London, and Mrs. Clarence Ritchie, who was in London for a few days when the baby, Mary Ann, was a patient in Victoria Hos- pital, returned home with Mr. and Mrs. Johnston. Mr. Henry Pattison, Barbara Shirley and Jean, visited on Sunday at the home of his sis- ter, Mrs, Gerald Watson of Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pur - don and children, who spent last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Purdon, returned home to Thomdale on Friday last, Miss Janet Beecroft was a counsellor at the Goderich Summer F2hool, for girls from 9 to 13 years of age, last week, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Pattison visited on Sunday with his aunt, Mrs, Robert McKenzie, at the Pinecrest Manor Home in Lucknow. Mrs. St, Clair Willis of Gowanstown spent the week -end at the home of Mrs. D. Willis.
