lst Belgrave Cub Pack met
for the regular meeting in the
Community Centre, on Tues-
day with 22 Cubs and 4 leaders
present, Mrs. Ken Wheeler
(Akelha) opened with the
Grand Bowl, followed by in-
spection, The Black Six
again had the most points and
had their pennant on the to-
tem pole.
Two knot contests were
held and also the snake dance.
Games were enjoyed and camp
was discussed. The meeting
closed with taps.
This was the last summer
meeting. The Cubs will not
meet again till the fall, on
Tuesday, Sept. 3.

motor for a vacation through

TOWN WORKMEN are currently digging up the boule-
vard and removing the curbing on the south side of
John Street from Josephine Street to Carling Terrace.
The same operation will take place on the north side
of the street as well. When the job is completed the
street will be resurfaced, providing nearly eight feet
more width to the street.

Theme of U.C.W.
FORDWICH--The general
meeting of the Fordwich United
Church Women was held in the
Sunday School rooms. Mrs.
Wm. Wilson presided. The
theme of the meeting was"Love
of God and Love of Country",
stressing the mission of the
church and its frontiers in Can-
ada.
The roll call was answered
by a verse on "Our country".
Responsive Bible reading was
led by Mrs. Stanley Bride and
a poem, "The Country Church
Speaks", was given by Mrs.
Bride.
The treasurer's report, given
by Mrs. Jim Warrell, showed a
very satisfactory return from
the garden party in June.
The Bible study, "The Word
and the Way" on God and Evil
was given by Mrs. James War-
rell, assisted by Mrs, George
Pittendreigh and Mrs. Wray
Cooper. A discussion period
followed.

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cooper
and Miss Louise Matthews are
spending this week at the cot-
tage of Mr. Everitt Cooper in
Bayfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Mc-
Elwain and family of Toronto
spent the week -end with rela-
tives in the community and
attended the centennial ser-
vices at McIntosh Church on
Sunday.
Mr. Everitt Allen has been
confined to Listowel Hospital,
having suffered a severe burn to
his arm when some parafin wax
took fire,
L. O, L. and L.O.B.A. Lod-
ges from Fordwich, Newbridge
and Gorrie, attended the Orange
celebration held in Exeter on
Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benin
and family of Tillsonburg spent
the week -end at the home of
Mr. and Mrs, Earl Moore and
on Sunday they all attended the
Denny reunion, held in Owen
Sound's Harrison Park.
Mrs. Richard Watteres of the
Fordwich L.O.B.A., who is 80
years old, was the eldest lady
in the parade at Exeter on
July 12 and won the prize.
Miss Linda Hamilton spent
Thursday in London.
Master John Bolander return-
ed home over the week -end
after visiting the past couple of
weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Gibson in St. Catharines.
Messrs. Garfield Gibson and
Dave Inglis spent the week -end
at Port Carling and Gravenhurst
Mrs, Peter Chimney and
Jahey returned home to Port
Colborne after visiting with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Keith.
Mr. and Mrs. William
Sothern visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Hartman at Gow-
anstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Simmons
of Stratford were Sunday visi-
tors with Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Simmons.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Harris
and family of Lloydminster,
Alberta, spent a couple of days
last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Sothern and other rela-
tives in the community.
Mr. Edward Gordon, who
has visited with relatives in
Winnipeg this past two years,
returned to the community last
week.
Mr. Earl Ridley of London
spent the week -end at his
home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Anson Demer-
ling and Mr. and Mrs. Val
Schinbein of Listowel visited
with Mr. Reuben Schinbein,
who is in the Owen Sound hos-
pital as a result of a car acci-
dent. Mr. and Mrs. Robt.
Fozer of Newcastle, N.B.,
visited Sunday evening at the
Demerling home.
Miss Ethna Foster, Mrs.
Ernie Darcy and John Gamble
attended the Richmond Hill
L.O.B.A. on Sunday, where
entertainment was provided by
the Girls' Belfast Band of Ire-
land.
Miss Pauline Sothern of
Palmerston spent a couple of
days last week at her home.
