Clerk, Superintendent Are Given Leave Of Absence
All members of the Howick
Township Council were present
for the regular meeting in the
clerk's office on July 5 and
Reeve Ivan Haskins presided.
W. E. Whitfield read the min-
utes of the last meeting, the
court of revision and the special
meeting.
A motion was made to pro-
claim August 5th as Civic
Holiday, The clerk, Mr, Whit-
field, was granted a three
weeks' leave of absence start-
ing July 8. It was dec'.ded to
lease the south-east corner of

Bonnie Edgar
WROXETER—Misses Helen
McGee and Dawn Lue Clark
were hostesses at a shower held
at the McGee home for Miss
Bonnie Edgar, bride -elect of
this month, on Saturday.
Contests were enjoyed and
then Bonnie, who was seated in
a decorated chair, 'opened her
many beautiful and usefulgifts.
The hostesses served a dainty
lunch and the remainder of the
afternoon was spent in social

Annual Picnic
The annual picnic of the
Rainbow Club was held at the
Wingham town park recently,
with 23 members and 17 visitors
attending. Harold Jardin, Free
Press carrier, drew the winners
from the sale of tickets. Iris
Purdon won the pictures by
Woods, Mervin McCauley won
the magazine rack and Mrs.
Arthur Rock won the wall plaque.
Grace Cook won a lovely Afri-
can violet plate for selling the
most tickets.
Youngest grandmother was
Georgina Crothers. There were
three ladies to claim the prize
for the member of longest
standing. The decision went
to Estella Cowan, who had the
most articles in her purse.
