TO CLOSE IN FALL—The Wroxeter public school is one
of several public schools in the Howick school area
which will be closed next September when the new
central school near Fordwich will open its doors for
all pupils in the township.—A-T photo.
Trip to London
FORDWICH—The pupils of
S.S. No. 10 and 11 Howick,
accompanied by their teachers,
Mr. W. King and Mrs. H. Doig,
enjoyed a trip to London last
Tuesday. They visited Silver -
woods, Elgin House, Museum,
Springbank, Story Book Gar-
dens and Fanshawe.
Nurses' Reunion
Well Attended
FORDWICH--The 1956gradu-
ating class of Stratford General
Hospital held its class reunior
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Demerling on Saturday,
June 22. Thirteen of the seven-
teen graduates were present
along with their husbands and
children.
It was held in the form of a
barbecue supper with dancing
following at night. Those pre-
sent were from Sault Ste. Marie,
Stratford, Mitchell, London,
Sarnia, Brampton, Hamilton,
Exeter, Dashwood, Renfrew.
The next one will be held in
Clinton in 1965.

Three Graduate From SS 11 Howick
FORDWICH--The pupils of
S.S. No. 11 Howick held their
closing out ceremony on Friday
morning following the opening
exercises.
The graduating class, Phyl-
lis Bilton, Barbara Brock and
Gerald Gedcke, wearing mortar
boards and corsages, were pre-
sented with their certificates
by Mr. Harris, representing the
school board. They received
graduation remembrances from
their teacher.
Phyllis Bilton gave the vale-
dictory address and the others
made suitable replies.
Wanda Sparling and Betty
Brock, on behalf of pupils,
presented Mrs. Doig with agift.
Considerable time was spent
taking pictures and movies,
after which they enjoyed a pic-
nic lunch on the lawn.

gram attended the wedding of "
their grandson, Mr. Kerry Ben-
son, at Ripley recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Graham,
St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Baker and family, Ottawa,
spent the holiday with Mr,
and Mrs. Stewart Higgins and
attended the Higgins reunion in
Belmore.
Ross Toman's accompanied
by Mr. Henry Sage of Listowel,
visited Mr. and Mrs. Isaac
Henry, Milverton on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Edgar
Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Jas.
Halliday of Wingham visited
with Mrs. W. Weir and Miss
Gertrude Bush one evening last
week.
Mrs. Mabel Meahen was a
dinner guest with Mr. and Mrs.
Gavin Muir last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard In-
gram attended the Ingram re-
union in Stratford last Sunday.
Mrs. Alex Wright, who has
been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don
oridon Greig in Petrolia, has re-
turned home.
Mrs. Ormey Walker and
Mrs. Doris Cain of Listowel
were Saturday guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. McCutcheon.
Mr. Paul Higgins is attend-
ing University in London for
the summer months.
Mr, and Mrs. David Haw-
kins, Alice axle Mary of Bramp-
ton and Miss Mildred Henning,
Wingham, vis_ted their uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Gavin
Muir on Wednesday.
Mrs. Vernon Hupfer and
Miss Catherine MacDonald, ac-
companied Mr. Mac Stewart to
London during the week -end to
visit Mrs. Stewart, who is
hospitalized there.
We are sorry to report Mr.
Archie Taylor was rushed to
London last Saturday evening,
from Wingham and District
Hospital, for immediate surgery
for stomach ulcers. At latest
School Picnic
WROXETER--On Friday the
pupils of the Wroxeter Senior
Room spent an enjoyable fore-
noon swimming at Turnberry
Park, after which they enjoyed
a wiener roast and refreshments.
The pupils then presented their
teacher, Mrs. Walter Woods,
with a token of remembrance.
Take Bus Trip
WROXETER—Grades 3 to 8
inclusive of Wroxeter Public
School and their teachers, Mrs.
Woods and Miss Buchanan, en-
joyed a bus trip to Goderich
where they toured the Museum,
Court House, Airport, and had
a boat trip, last Wednesday.
They all voted it a very inter-
esting and enjoyable day.
Anniversary at
London Home
FORDWICH--Mr. and Mrs.
Anson Demerling of Fordwich,
spent the week -end at the home
of their daughter and son-in-
law, Mr, and Mrs. Gordon
Goldrieh in London, the occa-
sion being their 30th wedding
anniversary.
On Sunday a family dinner
was held when their otherdaugh-
ter, Mrs. Ralph Langstaffe and
husband of Toronto, were pre-
sent.
Mrs. Demerling received a
gold ring set with twin pearls
and Mr. Dcmerling received
gold cuff links and bar pin set
with pearls from the family.

Mr, and Mrs, Blair Sharp,
John, Tommy, Davey and San-
dra of Sarnia spent the holiday
week -end with Mr, John Hup-
fer. Mr, Sharp went on to On-
tario College of Education in
Toronto on Tuesday and Mrs.
Sharp and children remained
for a longer visit,
Mr. and Mrs, Wallace Nixon
and family of Greenwood, N.S.,
are vacationing with Mr. and
Mrs, George Griffith and other
relatives.
Mrs. Wm. Cullen, Heather,
Corrin and Laurie of Toronto,
are spending their vacation with
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence White,
also of Toronto, at their sum-
mer home in the village.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lau-
rie VanVelsor during the holi-
day week -end were Mrs. Lloyd
Arthurs and family of Harriston,
Mr. and Mrs. Don Beam and
family of London, Mr. and Mrs,

Miss Heather Forbes, Toron-
to, is holidaying with Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. McKay. Mr. Da-
vid McKay, Wingham, visited
Sunday at the same home.
Miss Anne Douglas is attend-
ing summer school in Hamilton
after being home for the holi-
day week -end.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McKay
and Miss Heather Forbes spent
Monday with Mr, and Mrs.
George McKay, Bluevale.
We are sorry to hear Mr.
Harold Ridley is again a pa-
tient in Wingham and District
Hospital. We hope for a speedy
return home and better health.

and family spent Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cobb, Han-
over.
Mr. and Mrs. John Snell,
spent the holiday week -end
with friends in Detroit.
Receive Tables
FORDWICH—A presentation
and dance was held Friday night
in the Fordwich Community
Hall in honour of Mr. and Mrs.
Doug Mason, who were married
recently.
Miss Margaret Anne Wilson
read the address and the young
couple was presented with
coffee and step tables to match
and a purse of money. Doug
and Donna thanked everyone
and music for dancing was
supplied by Garnet Farrier's
orchestra.

Mrs. Ruby Forester, motor-
ed Rev. and Mrs. G. Anderson
to Malton Airport Friday, where
they flew to Ireland and will
visit relatives for the month of
July.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moore
visited Monday with Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Brecker at Baden.
Master John Brecker returned
with them and will spend sever',
al weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. William Mul-
vey and Jeffrey of Belmore
visited Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Sothern.
Master John Bolander is
spending a couple weeks with
Mr, and Mrs. Don Gibson in
St. Catharines.
Mr, and Mrs. Alex Wray,
Grace and Brian of Toronto,
spent the week -end with rela-
tives in the community.

fer were week -end visitors with
Mr. and Mrs, Stewart Schaefer
at London.
