Rev. Anderson Speaks to WA
Topic Is Church Attendance
GORRIE--" Forget not the as-
sembling of yourselves together"
was the subject of a talk given
by the Rev. G, A. Anderson at
the June meeting of St. Ste-
phen's W. A. , held at the home
of Mrs. Chas. Lawrence. "The
prayer book states age, infirm-
ity and sickness are the only
excuses for non-attendance at
church. Something W.A.
members can do as a witness is
to give thanks and praise to
God; pray for things necessary;
listen to God's holy word and
hear a sermon each Sunday."
Mrs. Edward Newton read
the Scripture and roll call was
answered with a verse from the
book of Job.
Mrs. Gordon Underwood led
in prayer and Litany. Letters
of thanks for shipments to the
Indian Residential School at
Cardston, Alberta and to the
Mohawk Institute, Brantford
were read, also notes of thanks
from friends.
Mrs. G. A. Anderson read
of the help given in India by
church and W.A. to flood suf-
ferers last August and again the
work done for the Indian sold-
iers during the attack by the
Chinese on their northern bor-
der.
The meeting was closed

Tent Caterpillars
Can Be Controlled
Contrary to its name, the
tent caterpillar doesn't build a
tent but larvae cluster together
on tree trunks when food is
scarce or weather is poor. As-
pen is a favourite tree and
larvae appear when its leaves
begin to unfold.
The adult caterpillar can be
recognized by its distinctive
markings. It is dark brown
with a broad blue band along
each side and a prominent row
of white key -hole shaped spots
down the back. Four orange
lines extend the length of the
body.
The pest can be controlled
by use of insecticides such as
Malathion or D. D. T. Mala-
thion is used in areas where
human and animal food is be-
ing grown, D, D. T. in areas
such as parks or resorts. Both
of these insecticides are ex-
tremely poisonous and can be
dangerous if improperly handl-
ed. It is best to seek advice
from the district office of the
Department of Lands and
Forests, if any doubt is present
as to their application.
