"I'll be over -after I do my banking!"
Nowadays it's natural for the lady of the house to
do much of the family banking, because it's so
convenient to look after money matters at one place
—the local chartered bank, an all-round banking
service -centre.
This busy homemaker is on her way to deposit
part of her husband's salary in their savings
account, cash a cheque on their joint chequing
account, and pay the monthly instalment on a
personal loan. All this taken care of under one
roof—quickly, easily, simply.
Any bank service you use is an introduction to
many others. And the chartered banks are always
on the lookout for new ways to be helpful to more
people. Good reason why the number of deposit
accounts has doubled to 14 million in just 10 years,
and 3,500 new accounts are being opened every
banking day.
THE CHARTERED BANKS SERVING YOUR COMMUNITY
through full -range banking responsive to growing, changing needs
Helens sang, "Now, I'm in Love
With Jesus."
Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft, presi-
dent, welcomed all the ladies
and introduced the panel that
would discuss, " The Christian
Family", Mrs. Norman Coultes,
Mrs. John L. Currie, Mrs.
George McGee and Mrs. Alex
Robertson.
They outlined the problems
that parents have, to keep
Christian ideals before their
children. Lack of time, work-
ing parents leaving children
with baby sitters and homes
broken by divorces often cause
problems. In some countries
children are raised in group
homes or institutions.
The panelists disclosed that
family worship and prayer take
time and effort, and it was
agreed that the religious prob-
lems are the same in the homes
of the rich and the poor.
Mrs. George Michie, leader,
with Mrs. Chas. Smith of West-
field, Mrs. Millan Moore of
Whitechurch, Mrs. Ross Ander-
son, Belgrave and Mrs. Leslie
Wightman, Blyth, took over
the discussion to show the dif-
ferent methods some have fol-
lowed to attain a Christian
Family: A quiet time in the
home, turn off radio and T. V.
and tell the children more of
the fine Bible stories that show
the interest, the guiding and
powers and the love of God.
Love is the basis of all living.
Different standards of living
are before our families every
day, and children must learn to
Judge them for the values that
are highest and best and most
helpful. Lives are strengthened
by prayer, by reading good ma-
terial, and by example of
adults. We must realize that
nations go down for lack of
rnorality, and the problem of
liquor traffic was deplored.
Mrs. Beecroft thanked the
panel for the able handling of
the dicussion, and a hearty vote
of appreciation was given.
Mrs. Andrew Gaunt of White-
church sang, "He'll Understand" ,
and "Say, Well Done."
Visitors were grouped and a
bounteous lunch was enjoyed by
all.
Wiener Roast
At Amberley
WHITECHURCH--Over thirty
of the young people of the two
churches here gathered at the
Amberley Beach last Tuesday
evening for a wiener roast. The
worship service was in charge of
Marlene and Wayne Martin,
All enjoyed the sing -song.
Some played a game of ball
while others went swimming in
the lake. Later they all gather-
ed
athered for the wiener and marsh-
mellow roast.
People cannot be judged by
what other people say about
them, but they can be judged
by what they say about others.
