day morning Rev. G. C. Mit-
chell baptized Melody Lynn,
infant daughter of Mr, and Mts,
Edwin Bosman.
Bert Garniss had the mis-
fortune to break his left elbow
and has it in a cast, Neighbors
have kindly assisted in getting
Ms spring work completed.
Mrs. Jos. Horton has return-
ed to her home here after a pro-
longed visit with her daughter,
Mrs. Alan White, at Springfield.
Mr. and Mrs. White and boys
visited with her at the week-
end.
Mr, and Mrs, Percy Chap-
man, of Stratford, spent the
week -end with Mr. and Mrs. R
J. McMurray.
Arthur Edgar is a patient in
Victoria Hospital, London.
Mr, and Mrs. Harry Watson,
of Kitchener, visited Mrs. W,
J. Johnston on Sunday.
Rev. Wm. Blackmore, Mrs.
Blackmore and children were
with Mr, and Mrs. Raymond
Elliott for the week -end.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Thorn-
ton and family, Mr. and Mrs,
Walter Jeffrey and Mr. and Mrs.
M. Abraham of Kitchener visit-
ed with Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Robertson on Sunday on the oc-
casion of Mrs. Robertson's birth-
day.

Charles Garniss
Dies in Regina
ULUlEVALE--There passed
away in General Hospital, Re-
gina, Sask., on May 8, Owlet
Gamiss, formerly of Morris
Township, at the age of 78
years.
He was the son of the late
William Garniss and Elizabeth
MacDonald. He never married
and is survived by a sister, Mrs,
Annie Elliott, Regina.
Funeral was held Monday,
May 13th, by Rev. Hopkinson,
from Speers funeral home,
with interment in Riverside
Memorial Park Cemetery. Re-
gina.

POLICEMAN HONORED — Corpora( Jack Parkinson,
who has been with the Wingham Detachment of the
OPP, was honored by a host of friends at the Legion
Home last week. He leaves this Thursday for his new
duties at Milton. The corporal is pictured seated at a
desk presented by Staff Sgt. Harris, of Mount Forest,
on behalf of area officers, and desk set by Constable
Murray Fridenburg, of Wingham, right, from the local

L.A. Variety Concert
BLUEVALE--A variety con-
cert sponsored by the Morris
group of Knox Presbyterian
Ladies' Aid, brought a large at-
tendance
ttendance to the community hall
on Thursday evening. R. J.
McMurray was chairman for
the program.
The award winning drama,
presented by the North Huron
Junior Farmers, was " Two
Crooks and a Lady", directed
by Mrs. Dave Kennedy, of
Brussels, Mrs. Wm. Coultes,
Miss Grace Mathers, Murray
Hoover, Donald Martin and Mr.
and Mrs. Ken Johnston formed
the cast.
There was a good musical
program of much variety. Mr,
and Mrs. Donald Robertson and
Charles Martin
Buried Monday
Charles Martin, 84, died
Thursday, May 16 in Wingham
and District General Hospital.
He was a native of Morris Town-
ship and a son of the late Wil-
liam Martin and Eliza Van Al-
st ine .
Mr. Martin was a sectionman
with the C.N.R.
He married Maty Jane Bur-
gess in Wingham, April 9, 1902.
She died June 22 of last year.
Surviving are a son, Clark-
son Martin of Galt and two
sisters, Mrs. Minnie Shutliff
and Mrs, Lilliarn Anderson. A
granddaughter, Lorna, (Mrs.
Donald E. Stuart) lives in Pres-
ton,
The funeral was Monday
afternoon from the R, A, Cur,.
rte and Sons funeral home,
with interment in Wingharri
ICernetety. Rev. G. L. Fish of
St, Andrew's Presbyterian
Church officiated.
The pallbearers Were Fraser
Forgie, Frank Balfour, lack
Ernest, Joe Schneider, Tom
Henderson and George Fowler,
Ross Mann gave orchestral se-
lections and Carol Robertson
and Judy Bitton sang several
selections to the orchestral ac-
companiment. Mouth organ
numbers were given by Ross
Gray, Eldred Nichol and Harvey
Robertson.
A group of teen-age boys,
Wayne and Murray Elston, Gor-
don McMurray, Harvey Mann
and Neil Edgar, in costume
and black faces, sang "When
the Saints Go Marching On"
and other numbers. After a
change of costume they sang
modern popular songs.
With Mrs. Harold Thomas,
of Brussels, at the piano, Mrs.
Charles Thomas and Mrs. Van
Fleit sang comedy numbers in
costume and the audience
Joined them in familiar songs.
George Procter, in appro-
priate Highland attire, sang
Scotch songs, with accompani-
ment by his sister, Miss Mary
Procter.
A trio, Miss Mary Harmer,
Mrs. Bill Robertson and Ross
Gray sang "When You Come to
the End of the Day" and other
numbers.
Mrs. Nora Moffatt was ac-
companist for part of the pro-
gram.
Jr. institute
May Meeting
North Huron Junior Institute
held its May tneeting at Wing-
ham
ingham District High School,
Grace Mathers, gave the mottq
"Whatever is worth doing at
all, is Worth doing tight,"
Guests were Mrs. L. John -
Ston and Mrs. J. Lamont of
!grave, who demonstrated
arid gave instruction on hand
stooling. The girls finished the
pictures they had started at the
April tweeting. The date for
the next meeting is June 13.
Messengers Met
At United Church
BLUEVALE-- The Messengers
met in the schoolroom of the
United Church on Tuesday after
four o'clock, beginning with
the call to worship, "Bless the
Lord, all His hosts, His minis-
ters that do His will." The
hymn, "Jesus Bids Us Shine",
was sung.
The roll call was, "Name
one flower you have picked
this spring" .
Karen Hall read the minutes
and Mrs. Charles Campbell read
Scripture from Matthew 25.
Mary Edith Garniss presented
the offering, Mrs. George
Fischer giving.the prayer. a'
Stories were told, Mrs.
Fischer taking the seniors and
Mrs. Campbell the juniors.
The concluding hymn was,
"Tell Me the Stories of Jew.•"
