Men Bowlers
Hold Banquet
Some 30 members of the
Men's Bowling League met for
the organization's annual ban-
quet at the Legion home on.
Monday evening. Treasurer
Jack Parkinson acted as chair-
man, as the president, Paul
Coyle, has left town.
Chief subject on the agenda
was the election of a new slate
of officers. The election re-
sulted in the naming of Ken
Saxton as president, Garry
Templeman as vice-president,
Rolly Kaufman, secretary and
'Murray Fridenburg as treasurer.
Trophies to top teams and
players were handed out. Top
team was captained by Ron Lee.
His group won both the league
championship and the playoff
championship, with the result
that as well as individual tro-
phies, they were presented with
the Burke Electric Trophy.
Prize for high average went
to Ken Saxton, who tallied a
232 average during the season.
Jim Bain won the high triple
with an 828 and the high single
went to Frank Riehl with a 355,
Ron Lee won the trophy for
most improved bowler, having
raised his average by 33 points
during the year.
The club discussed a number
of rules and decided not to set
up a handicapping system, as
it would be too time consum-
ing for the secretary. A new
rule governing naming of teams
was accepted. Each team cap-
tain will be required to name
six regular players and two
spares by November 30th. It
was also decided that the league
would provide eight trophies
per winning team.
Following the dinner and
business session the members
returned to the bowling lanes
for windup games.
