HOWICK COUNCIL MEETS
Cecil Wilson Appointed as
School Bd. Representative
A regular meeting of the
Howick Township Council was
held in the clerk's office on
May 6, with all members pre-
sent, and Reeve Ivan Haskins
in the chair. The minutes of
the last regular and special
meetings and court of revision
were read.
McMichael and Ting moved
to join the Huron County Road
Superintendents' Association
and pay the $10.00 fee, and
Gibson and Strong moved to
pay the 320.00 membership fee
to the Huron County Municipal
Officers Association.
King and McMichael moved
that the request to the commis-
sioner by the ratepayers, to
have some extra excavation on
the outlet of the Findlay drain,
be sent. Cecil Wilson was ap-
pointed as Howick representa-
tive on the Listowel Secondary
School Board to fill out the
term of T, J, Schaefer, who
has resigned.
The clerk was instructed to
contact the Fire Marshal's Of-
iice and have a representative
attend a meeting of ratepayers
in the community hall, Gorrie.
It was moved by Strong and
Gibson that a professional dog
catcher be contacted for en-
forcement of the existing dog
by-law.
King and McMichael moved
to rescind section 9 of By -Law
No. 12-61 of the Township of
Howick for the year 1961 (the
building by-law) to read $5.00
for the first $5, 000, instead of
$3,000 and 31.00 for each ad-
ditional thousand dollars of
construction value or part there-
of and be retroactive to Janu-
ary 1st, 1963.

gram were week -end guests of

Rothsay.
Miss Evelyn Jewell and Mrs.
Ida McCracken, of Hamilton,
spent the week -end with Mr.
and Mrs. Laurie Van Velsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Riley
and family visited with Mr. and
Mrs. John J. Riley, of Brussels,
on Sunday.

were in Listowel on Sunday,
where they visited Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Lucas.
Mrs. Richard Griffith and
Mr. Allan Griffith, accom-
panied by Mr. arid Mrs. Jas.
Sanderson and Mrs. Archie
Miller, spent Sunday in London
ethere they visited Mr. Frank
Earles and Mr. Richard Griffith,
in Victoria Hospital. We are
pleased to hear the latter was
able to return home with them.
Miss Evelyn llupfer, Wing-
ham, and Mrs, Elizabeth Kot-
chut, Walkerton, were callers
at the home of Mr, John Hupfer
on Sunday and also visited Mr.
and Mrs. Vernon llupfer.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne McCal-
lister, Teeswater, visited Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. Moore And at-
tended the baptism, of little
Karen Lynne Moore,
Mr, and Mrs, Gordon Greig
and family of Petrolia were
weekend visitors with relatives.
LT. -COL. E. D. BELL was the inspecting
officer of the Wingham District High
School Cadet Corps last week. He is
centre in the picture, with Area Cadet
Officer Capt. H. L. M. Brown immediate-
ly behind. The three cadet officers are,
