Dawna Bennett open- ed the meeting with prayer service. The Scripture reading was given by Judy King. Mrs. George Anderson read from the study book, "Tiger Tail Village", with Glenys Stuernol assisting. A knitting and craft period was held. A game was enjoy- ed by all and the meeting then closed and lunch was served. Vanstone Gorrie i dative GORRIE--George W. Gar- field Vanstone died suddenly at Parry Sound, in his 46th year. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vanstone and was formerly of Gorrie. Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie Christiansen; two sons Garry, and Drew and one daughter Cathy, all at home; one brother, Harold, Kitchener; four sisters, Mrs. Chas. (Edythe) Ritchie; Mrs. Clayton (Norma) Storey; Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Moore; Mrs. Wm. (Lorraine) Norton, all of London. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 23 at 2 p. m. in the Anglican Church, Parry Sound. Gorrie Personals Mr. and Mrs. T. L. McIn- nes visited Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Agar of Mount Forest on Sun- day, and called on other friends. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mc- Harg, Listowel, visited Sunday with Mrs. May Jackson. Sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. George Hamilton and family in their tragedy, and also to the bereaved family of the. late John Strong. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Under- wood visited Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Irvin of Mount Forest on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Stock - all and Cindy, Preston, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Koch. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Sang- ster, Belmore, visited Thurs- day with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Edwards. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Die- trich, Woodsley, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Will and family of Kings ville, spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Justin Will. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Mac Newton, whose mo- ther, Mrs. May Taylor passed away Saturday in Wingham Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Au- burn funeral home with burial in Auburn cemetery. Mrs. Bella Greaves received word on Saturday of the death of her sister, Mrs. Martha Anderson of Toronto. A niece, Mrs. Virginia Peacock of Tor- onto, also passed away recent- ly. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wil- lits, Simcoe and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burke, Port McNichol were Sunday guests of Mrs. Margaret Willits. Mr. Wesley Gallaway, Mr. Addison Harrison and Mr. Lorne McVicar of London, were at Owen Sound on Satur- day for the opening of the trout season. Fullerton Walkerton, visited Sunday at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Burns Stewart. Gedcke - Sparling Vows Exchanged GORRIE--Margaret Yvonne Sparling exchanged marriage vows with Donald Bruce Gedcke at a candlelight ceremony in Gorrie United Church on Friday, at 7 p.m., with Rev. Fred W. Taylor officiating. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Sparling, R.R. 2, Gorrie. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Gedcke of Kurtzville. The bride chose a floor - length gown of white Peau de Soie satin with bell-shaped skirt and train, topped with an elbow -length lace jacket. Iler shoulder -length veil was held in place by a coronet of lily of the valley. She carried a white Bible, topped with a white orchid and red roses. The Hayden herd, numbering 22 cows in milk, is 100 per cent good plus or bet- ter. The breed average for all of Canada is 47 per cent good plus or better. Passes Water Safety Course GORRIE--Miss Carol Robin- son was successful in passing the exams of the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Instructor's course held at Guelph, during the Easter holi- days. olidays. oie with silk organza jackets. Douglas Mason, Listowel, was best man, while Roger -edcke, Waterloo, and Wray Gedcke, Fordwich, ushered. Rondell Klinck, Sarnia, played the wedding music. A reception was held at the future home of the bride and groom, with the brides' mother receiving in a brown dress with :old accessories and corsage of yellow roses. The groom's mother assisted in a beige cos- tume with green accessories and corsage of rust mums. The luncheon was served by Miss Karen Davidson and Miss Sylvia Karges of Listowel. The bride's going away cos- tume was a two-piece suit of raspberry boucle, with white hat and black accessories. Site wore a white orchid corsage. The bride is on the staff of Listowel Central Public School. On their return they will reside on the groom's farm, R.R. I Gowanstown. Guests were present from Sarnia, Ancaster, Atwood, 1(arriston and Kitchener. The teachers of Listowel Public School pre%iously held a miscellaneous shower for Miss Sparling.
