Mr. and Mrs. Lorne McAlis-
ter, Teeswater, spent Sunday
with their daughter and son -in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Moore and family.

John Young home: again, and
able to he out.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Walker were Mr,
and Mrs. Dan Walkont and
Jeanie Marie of Paris,
Congratulations to Mr. Jas.
Doig on his birthday on Sunday,
On Thursday, Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. Doig visited Mr. and Mrs.
Stan Bye and Miss Farrow,
Drayton, and were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Emmerson Walker
to dinner the same evening.
We are sorry to hear Mr.
Wm. Wade is confined to hospi-
tal, at present, but we hope
his stay is of short duration.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hayes
and son, Leonard, of Toronto
and Mr, and Mrs. Ted Smith
were Sunday visitors with Mr,
and Mrs. Clarke Sharpin.
Mr. Gordon Loutit was the
lucky ticket holder on when
the barrel would go over the
dam when the ice broke up.
The ice went out on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hetsler
and family, Walkerton, visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Moore.
Horse racing season must be
officially opened as Mr. Harvey
Reidt was seen driving Bill Mun-
dell's race horse at the edge of
town on the week -end.
Mr. and Mrs. Ira McLean,
accompanied by Miss Mary
Phillips, Wingham, and Mr.
Murray McLean, were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Gibson and family, Monkton.
Mr. and Mrs, Dean Karn
and family visited the former's
grandparents in Hanover on
Saturday.
Mrs. Alex Wright, Mrs.
Allan Munro and Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Wright spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Lowe, Gravenhurst.
Mrs. Richard Griffith and
Mr. Allan Griffith spent Sun-
day with Misses Elva and Evelyn
Hupfer.
Messers. Elgin Tornan,
Petersburg, and Wallace To -
man, Baden, visited Sunday at
the home of Mr. Ross Toman.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson,
Port Rowan, are visiting the
latter's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth
Hoffman.
We are sorry to report Mr.
George Griffith is a patient in
Wingham and District Hospital
and Mr, Glenn McMichael will
enter Victoria Hospital, London,
for surgery on Friday.
Mr, Will Ringler, Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. McCutcheon and
Misses Elva and Evelyn llupfer
of Wingham surprised Mr, Lloyd
Hupfer on his birthday last
Wednesday, when they arrived
to spend the evening with them..
Misses Hupfer brought a suit-
ably decorated cake complete
with candles.
Mrs. Oliver Riley and daugh-
ters visited bir. and Mrs, Chas.
McCutcheon Sunday evening.
Mrs, Angus Carmichael, Mr.
and Mrs, Jas. Robertson, Jimmy
and Scott of Goderich visited
Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Hart on
Sunday and called on Mrs. Al-
onzo Sparling.
Mr. Edward Musgrove, a
life-long resident of this area,
passed away in Wingham and
District Hospital on April lst,
at the age of 87. Full obituary
will appear next week.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Newton
of Harriston and Mr. and Mrs.
Alec Gibson of Clifford were
Sunday visitors with Mrs. R.
Newton. Miss Nancy Newton
of London spent the week -end
with mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Ira McLean
were in London Thursday,
where they visited Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Earles. Friends of Mr.
Earles will be sorry to hear he is
not well, and has since been
confined to hospital.
Mrs. Melvin Gowing has re-
turned home from visiting her
daughter in Preston.
Mr, and Mrs. Bill Caslick
and family, Teeswater, were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. Moore.
Mr, and Mrs. George Gib-
son, Murray and Glenis, ac-
companied by Mrs. W. E. Weir
and Miss Gertrude Bush, were in
Goderich on Saturday where
they visited Mr. and Mrs. Allis-
ter Green and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Queen,
Kingsville, called on Mrs.
Alonzo Sparling and Mr. and
Mrs, Wm. Hart on Saturday
evening.

Euchre Party
WUITI=CHURCI-I--Six tables
were in play last Wednesday
evening at the euchre held in
Fordyce School by the teacher,
Mrs. George Kennedy and her
pupils. Miss Barbara Purdon
and George Kennedy held high
points and Mrs, Earl Jamieson
won the prize for most lone
hands. Lunch was served and
all enjoyed the social time,

Brother Dies
WHITECHURCH--Mrs. Mus-
grove, who lives at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. D. Willis,
received word on Monday of the
passing of her brother-in-law,
Thomas Edward Musgrove of
Wroxeter. Mr, Musgrove was
in his 87th year.
He had never married and
Mrs. Musgrove and her family,
Mr. Stewart Musgrove, Mrs.
Bennett Mitchell, and Mrs.
Willis, are his only relatives in
this district.
Interment was in Wroxeter
Cemetery, from the Moir funer-
al home, Gorrie, on Wednesday.
Mr. Musgrove was a member
of the United Church.

Speak at Thankoffering
WROXETER--The Friendship
Unit of Wroxeter U.C. W. met
at the home of Mrs. Allan
Munro last Tuesday. The pro-
gram for the meeting was in
charge of Mrs. Munro, Mrs.
Jas Doig and Mrs. Gavin Muir.
Mrs. Munro presided and gave
the call to worship and read an
article from the Observer en-
titled "Joseph Striven and His
Hymn." All joined in singing
the hymn which was "What a
Friend We Have in Jesus."
The Scripture lesson was
read by Mrs. Muir. The chap-
ter from "The Word and the
Way" on miracles, was present-
ed by Mrs. Doig. At the con-
clusion Mrs. Munro asked
questions. The answers led to
the conclusion that "Miracles
still occur where there are eyes
to see and a faith to believe
that God is present and active
in His World. After singing a
hymn, Mrs. Munro read a poem
by Patience Strong entitled,
"Treasures" .
Mrs. Archie Miller, leader
of the Unit, conducted the
business, telling of the first an-
nual meeting of Huron Presby-
terial United Church Women in
North Street United Church,
Goderich, at which 200 were
present. She gave valuable in-
formation on literature avail-
able, The minutes of the Feb-
ruary meeting were read by
the secretary, Mrs. Howard
Wylie, and approved. Twelve
members answered the roll
call with a verse of Scripture
containing the word "Prayer"
It was announced that the
Easter Thankoffering would be
held May 5th, with Miss Laura
Collar as guest speaker. The
W.i. Euchre
WHITECHURCH-;Fifteen
tables were in play on Monday
evening in the Memorial Hall
here, for the Institute euchre.
Mrs. George Fisher and Kenneth
Currie held high points and
Miss Mary Hehn and Lorne Scott
held second high. Mrs. Lorne
Scott won the marked chair
prize. Lunch was served and
all enjoyed the social time to-
gether.
Unit arranged to have a film
for the general meeting, to be
held in June, as their contribu-
tion toward the program. A
hymn was followed by repeating
the Lord's prayer in unison.
Mrs. Miller closed the meeting
with prayer.
The ladies in charge of the
meeting served a delicious
lunch and all enjoyed a pleas-
ant social hour.
