Rangers went really wild, and well they might for they came up with enough points to put them in first place. Rangers 6467; Canadiens 6459; Leafs 6294; Hawks 6145; Bruins 6051; Wings 5732. There have been changes since last week, as you can see, but I am still of the opinion that the winners won't be known un- til the last bowl goes down the alley. Only two more weeks to go to come up with the big win. BRIDGE CLUB North and South; First, O. Haselgrove, J. Martin; second, Mrs. E. Campbell, Mrs. R. Dundas; third, Mrs. Wm. Wharry, W. French. CARL Harrison, one of the coaches with the Weston Summer Hockey School, is seen in the right background with a group of young Wingham hockey players on Sun- day. Carl was one of several hockey specialists who visited Wingham at the request of the Recreation Com- mission to demonstrate coaching hints to local trainers. TESTS PASSED BY SKATERS Saturday was a busy day in the life of the Wingham Figure Skating Club. In spite of the very short season, members of the local club bad been pre- pared by Miss Faye Love and Harold Brooks to try 28 tests, of which 25 were passed. Members from other clubs trained by Miss Love, also tried here. Exeter had three out of four passes. Clinton had ten out of ten and Kincardine 22 out of 23. The Judges were Miss Jean Gurney, Mrs. Harold Wild, of Wingham and Harry Hoag, Victor Waterfield of the Brant- ford Club. The last two comp- limented the dancers as a whole. It is believed by the Pro's. that many of the local skaters could be ready for tests by Christmas if they enroll early and work towards that goal. This would also benefit those who were prevented from trying by ill- ness, etc. Coffee, sandwiches and doughnuts were served to judges and officials during the long session, by Mrs. M. Willie and Mrs. G. W. Tiffin. Fees were collected by Mrs, Ted English and Mrs. H. Burrell was test chairman. H. Brooks took charge of the music and Mr. Holloway had ice and order under good control. Visitors are always welcome but quiet- ness is essential. From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 club members had open house for their families. Box lunches and cups were taken and the club supplied hot chocolate. The turn out was very encour- aging considering that the open house was a last minute deci- sion. With the exception of two senior skaters, who will have to journey to Stratford to try their tests, the 1962-63 season has ended. Fathers and Sons At Pancake Supper About 140 fathers and sons enjoyed a pancake supper, with sausages and maple syrup, at St. Andrew's Church on Wednesday evening. Gordon Leggatt led in a lively sing -song. Bill Connell was the pianist. Entertainment was provided by Earl Heywood and his son, Grant. The speaker was Rev. Ro- bert Rumball, minister of Evan- gelical Church for the Deaf, in Toronto. Mr. Rumball, a for- mer football player, has been on the teams of the Toronto Varsity Blues, Ottawa Rough- riders and Toronto Argonauts. He was still playing football when he first went into the ministry. Mr. Rumball held the atten- tion of both fathers and sons as he told of his athletic exper- iences with football clubs, and his present work in the minis- try, When Rev. Rumball was called to Evangelical Church for the Blind, his first task was to learn sign language so that he could communicate with his congregation. The Toronto Church for the deaf, which is on Wellesley Street, has contact with people throughout this area who ate afflicted with impairment of speech and hearing.
