Wills and Taxes

By J. T. Goodall
WHITECHURCH— The March
meeting of the Women's Insti-
tute was held last Wednesday
evening in the Memorial Hall,
with 29 ladies present. The
president, Mrs. Dan Tiffin,
presided and welcomed the
members and visitors. Mrs.
George Fisher sang, "Danny
Boy" , and the roll call was
answered by, "What annoys me
at a public meeting". The
main objection seemed to be
than leaders speak too low, and
that many won't speak up in a
meeting, but are good talkers
after the meeting.
The ladies decided to hold
their meeting for April on
Wednesday afternoon, and to
hold a euchre this Monday
night in the hall, Five of the
members wanted a copy of
Ethel Chapman's poems. Miss
Mary Fisher led in a time of
community singing of Irish
songs.
Mrs. Fisher introduced the
speaker, J. T. Goodall, barris-
ter, of Wingham, who gave a
very interesting address, deal-
ing with wills of married
couples, and brothers and sis-
ters, succession duties, income
tax, and taxes on earnings of
married women. He explained
federal and provincial tax. Mrs.

tute.

enough to be without a neigh-
bour". She explained that
neighbours are everywhere, and
we must use them as such with
kindness, friendliness, and help-
fulness, She gave a poem,
"Neighbourliness", by Edgar
Guest. The April meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs.
Garnet Farrier.
