The Whitechurch group of the Women's Institute spon- sored a euchre on Monday eve- ning in the Memorial Hall, when twelve tables were in play. Mrs. John Gaunt and Mac Ross held high points, and Mrs. Kenneth Currie and Ger- shorn Johnston won the prizes for the most lone hands, when four were holders of lone hands. Lunch was served and the South group will sponsor another euchre in two weeks. Mr, and Mrs. E. E. Walker spent the week -end at Kitchen- er at the home of their son, Constable and Mrs. Roy Walker. Community Helps Fund elgrave Personals The postponed Belgrave School Fair meeting will be held in the community centre, Thursday evening at 8:30. Mr. Gordon Pengelly, Mrs. Athol Bruce and Little Johnny Scott are all patients in the BELGRAVE--A capacity crowd filled Foresters' Hall for the St. Patrick's euchre and dance, sponsored by the Arena Board. Sixteen tables were in play for the euchre with prizes going to: High lady, Clarence Hanna; high man, Gordon Mc- Murray; low lady, Linda Case - more; low man, Harvey Edgar. The "Community Orchestra" gave an excellent night of dancing. It is really wonderful when people get together to give so generously of their time and talent as these people did this nigl't. The members of the orchestra were Mrs. John Nixon, Mrs. George Johnston, taking turns at the piano; Rus- sel Fear and Harvey McDowell on saxaphones; Calvin Robinson with the banjo; Larry Hender- son and Gordon McBurney on the violins; John McDowell on the guitar. Ross Robinson did the calling for the square dances. At intermission a draw,spon- sored by the Midget hoc,aey team, was field with winners being, lst, Ross Procter of Bur- lington, i2L,00; 2nd, Bradley Campbell of Belgra•e, $10.00; jrd, Terry Nethery of Wing- harm, ing- han, S5. Lea. The proceeds from this dance go to the building fund for the new arena. Another dance and euchre will be held in three weeks, on April 5 with the same orchestra playing. Hope to see you there. LAKELET Mrs. Hazel Tuck, who has spent several months with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wylie, is visit- ing at present with her daugh- ter and son-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. Neil McColl of Don Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Knudsen and baby daughter of Toronto spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smith. Mr, Glen Reidt of Newmar- ket spent the week -end with his family here. Miss Marion Scott, in com- pany with Miss Margaret Reich- enbach of Walkerton, left by jet from Mallon Airport on Fri- day for Bermuda, to enjoy several weeks in the sunny south. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ratz of Waterloo spent the week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haskins. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Ferguson and family visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Ballagh of Belmore. Injures Shoulder LAKELET—Our local garage - man, Ernest Wylie, suffered a mishap on Friday morning while working in the garage. Intend- ing to step across the pit, he missed his step and fell into it. and sustained a dislocated shoulder. He was taken to the Bruce County Hospital, Walkerton for x-rays. Mr. Wylie returned home on Saturday, where he is resting comfortably. Mishap Caused By ley Roads LAKELET—Carl Dennis, while driving to his place of employment on Sunday evening, had the misfortune of sliding into the Ayton bridge at the foot of the hill, causing con- siderable damage. The accident was attributed to the icy road conditions. Mr. Denni$ fortunately, was unhurt. Barn Burns LAKELET--Some time during Sunday night the barn of John Mighton was destroyed by fire, along with machinery and stock. Cause of fire is unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Highton and family were absent at the time, as they were spending the week- end at Toronto. Wingham District Hospital with pneumonia. A euchre will be held in the Stone School on Friday eve- ning for the building fund of the Belgrave Arena. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Procter, Maxine and Frank, visited over the week -end with Mrs. Proc- ter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Speakman and other rela- tives in Toronto. Mrs. Herson Irwin and Mrs. Robert Purdon were both able to return to their homes form the hospital last week. Three Receive ULT. Lanyards B,ELGRAVE—The lanyardst vice of the C.G.I. T. was held in the church basement Friday evening, Marilyn Taylor led in a game called "Scrambled Pies". Marilyn Campbell, president, opened with a verse of the C,G,1, T. hymn, pur- pose, Scripture, and prayer. Minutes were read by Helen Anderson, church and Sunday school attendance were record- ed. Mrs. Logan reported that $23.5(i had been made on the sale of chocolates, and that the money was now all in. Next meeting will be on March 29 when Rhonda Fear will be in charge of the games and Aud- rey Coultes have the worship service. A new hymn "For the Day that Carne from Thee" was sung. The groups divided for mission study. Marilyn Camp- bell began the lanyard service with call to worship, followed by singing again the new hymn. She then explained the require- ments for receiving the lanyards. Mrs. 11, J. Anderson spoke briefly to the three girls, who were receiving their lanyards, Wendy Fear, Donna Grasby and Linda Rinn. They were present- ed by Mrs. Grasby. The rest of the group then joined with these girls in prayer. Brenda VanCamp and Ruth Michie received the offering. All joined hands in prayer and Taps were sung. Weekly Euchre BELGRAVE--The weekly euchre was held in the commun- ity centre with prizes as follows: High prize, Mrs. Jack Ander- son, C. R.
