Gives Donation to Clifford Keiiy Memorial WHITECHURCI3— The U,C,W. of Calvin -Brick United Church held their February meeting last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Alex Robertson, when eleven ladies were present. Mrs. Jamieson presided and gave the call to worship. Mrs. Lawrence Taylor gave Bible readings, Mrs, Kenneth Mason had charge of the Bible study, "The Living God", Questions on these chapters were given out, and the different groups answer- ed. nswered. Mrs. Jamieson led in pray- er for the success of mission work and for the workers. She had charge of the Christian Citizenship, telling the story of St, Christopher's House in Toronto. Mrs. Ronald Coultes had the study book on Okinawa, telling of the climate, products arts, industries and education of the people. Mrs, Gilbert Beecroft presi- ded for the business meeting, reading cards of thanks. The ladies decided to give $65.00 to the Belgrave U.C. W,, who are furnishing a sitting room in Westminster College in mem- ory of the late Clifford Kelly. The World Day of Prayer will be held this Friday at 2;30p.m, in the church. The following were appointed to attend the Presbyterial at Goderich on March 21, Mrs. George McGee, Mrs. Gordon McBurney, Mrs. John Jamieson, Mrs. Kenneth Mason, Mrs. Lawrence Taylor and Mrs. John L. He leaves one son, Lawrence Jamieson, of Whitechurch and Kinloss Township, and three grandchildren.. The funeral was held from the Ball and Mutch funeral home, Clinton on Monday, to Clinton cemetery, kets and they are quilting a quilt this week at the home of Mrs. Ronald Coultes. Mrs, Angus Falconer spent the week -end at Streetsville with her husband, Mr, Angus Falconer and Mrs. Cecil Fal- coner, and Alan and Kevin visited with Mr. and Mrs. E1- gin Welwood of Caledon. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Pattison spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Watson of Forest. Mr. Elroy Laidlaw made a business trip to Toronto last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family visited on Sunday at the home of her brother, Mr. Lorne Forster of W. Wawanosh. Mr. Grant McBurney of Waterloo University spent the week -end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John McBurney, Gary Barbour of Bluevale, also spent the week -end with his grand- parents there. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Cardiff of Brussels visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rin- toul and family. Mary Purdon, Ann Rintoul, Margaret McMillan, Marilyn Cameron, and Barry Tiffin and Anne Currie of Kitchener, spent the week -end at their respective homes in this dis- trict. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Mac - Charles and children of Arkona visited on Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Donald McDon- ald, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.D. McDonald, and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. MacCharles of Lucknow. Mrs. Robt. McKenzie of Dungannon, who was a patient in Wingham Hospital, was able to return home on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClena- ghan visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Alton of Ash- field. Mr. and Mrs. George Coffin and Sharon of Hespeler visited on Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs, Claude Coffin. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mc- Clenaghan, Michael and Paul Geiger of Waterloo, visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan. Mrs. Russell Ritchie has been a patient in Wingham Hospital since Thursday last, suffering from pneumonia in both lungs. Mr. Ritchie is also under the doctor's care. Mr. Victor Emerson is helping at the Ritchie home. Mrs. Clarence Ritchie and baby daughter were able to re- turn home from Wingham Hos- pital on Monday. Among those from a dis- tance who attended the funeral of the late Violet Showers were, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Showers, Toronto, Mrs. Kenneth Hop- wood, Kingston, Mrs, Harold Capson, London, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Showers and Mr. Clif- ford Showers, Toronto, and Mr. Victor Showers of Han- over. Mr. and Mrs. SheldonJack- lin and family of Brussels visit- ed on Saturday with their par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook of Marnoch. Those from this district who took advantage of the school bus trip from Wingham District High School on Saturday, and Mr,, Mrs. Coultes Are Wed 58 Years WHITECHURCH--The family of Mr. and Mrs. George Coul- tes, with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Leaver, met at the Coultes home on Friday evening and spent a social evening with this elderly couple, who were quietly celebrating the 58th anniversary of their marriage. Mrs. Coultes was also celebrat- ing her 80th birthday. All en- joyed the evening together. enjoyed an interesting tour of Western University, London, were Muriel Moore, Janet Bee- croft, George Conn and Murray Coultes all of Grade 13.
