WINGHAM St. John Assoc. Makes Appeal The Goderich branch is the only one operative in Huron County at the present time and its activities provide some idea of the work which could be undertaken by a local unit. The corps in the county town consists of 20 men who gave 2, 000 hours of their time during the past year without charge. The brigade attends all major functions where first aid might be required. It rendered assistance in 200 cases last year. The unit trained 145 men in first aid and six women in home nurs- ing. Its training program in- cluded a class in Wingham. The money raised in the campaign will be used for the purchase of Iitandages, blankets, stretchers, splints, disinfec- tants, gasoline and mainten- ance for ambulances. Brigadier G. MacLeod Ross, campaign chairman, has an- nounced plans to raise funds for the St. John Ambulance Association. The appeal is of some spe- cial interest in Wingham, where council has already made a grant of $100 to the associa- tion, in the expectation that a branch will be trained in Wing - ham soon, The trove came after former EMO Director Murray MacDonald outlined the creed for such a unit here if any consistent plan of emer- gency planning were to be car- ried out. He emphasized that the Goderich unit would give every assistance in the forma- tion and training of a Wingham corps. Mother Survives W. Cornelius, 75 WHITECHURCH—Mr. and Mrs. J. D.
