Vestry Meeting
There was a good represen-
r Cation of St. Paul's congrega-
Airdon at the annual meeting in
the parish room Monday eve-

a sound financial position and
the church had a successful
year.

The McGuire Sisters are back
together and quite fittingly,
they made their comeback ap-
pearance with a man who has
helped to keepthem famous for
P
the last few years, Ed. Sullivan.
It was great to see them again
after some personal problems
that left Phyllis on her own,
and they were singing better
than ever. Dorothy, who is
married to Calgary businessman
Lowell Williamson, recently
became the mother of a son,
her second, the inspiration be-
hind their number on the Sulli-
van show. Chris' problems
haven't ended so happily; she
and her husband of a number of
years have agreed on a divorce.
It seems to me that Phyllis, the
only unmarried member of the
trio, is the only one without
problems! Anyway, no prob-
lems career -wise; after that
outing on Sunday night, they're
right back on the top again.

The most successful docu-
mentary series on CKNX-TV,
is "Biography", which tells the
life stories of famous people.
It has already featured the
stories of Winston Churchill,
Hitler, The Duke and Duchess
of Windsor, Mahatma Ghandi,
and Harry Truman, among
others, so if you haven't seen
it as yet, you have missed a
great deal. However, there
are some exciting stories yet to
come: Generalissimo Franco,
Thomas Edison, Amelia Ear -
hart, Russian leader Stalin,
France's General DeGaulle,
baseball's Babe Ruth, singer
Jenny Lind, and others. You
can't afford to miss it any long-
er, so get with it! It's on Mon-
day evenings, seven o'clock.

Gals all over America are
crying in their Cokes this week!
Last Saturday, another cowboy
bit the dust when Frankie Ava-
lon married Kay Deibel in
Hollywood. He's a famous
singer, in case you didn't know;
she is a former room -mate of
actress Tuesday Weld but has
never been in show business.
Speaking of Frank, he hasn't
had a hit record for a dog's
age! He probably won't have
either, at least until the teen-
age girls get over their broken
hearts! Oh well, cheer up,
gals, there's still Elvis and
Paul!

More honour comes to Cana-
da when, for the second con-
secutive year, our comedians
Wayne and Shuster have taken
the award for the finest comedy
team in North America. This
is a real feat and Canadians
don't half appreciate them nor
the fact that they are staying in
Canada. They had stiff compe-
tition when you think of who
came third: Lucille Ball and
Vivian Vance. Second was an

Speaking of Lucy, Canada
now has the distinction of hav-
ing on its roster, the two top-
rated shows in the U.S. They
are: (1) The Lucy Show and (2)
The Beverly Hillbillies, I
waited patiently for CKNX to
latch onto Lucy and they didn't
disappoint me. She must now
be breaking up audiences all
over the country. It seemed
hard to imagine a show without
Desi Arnez, but she carries a
half-hour so beautifully, that
you hardly miss him. She still
has her old side -kick Vivian
Vance, though. They play two
mothers trying to raise their
children without the help of a
father. Lucy is a widow with
two children, Jerry and Chris,
and Viv a divorcee with one son,

Did you know that, although
not related to Don Cameron of
the same show, Dorothy Cam-

is now hostess of the afternoon
show 'Take Thirty'? I kid you

If your car can find its way
out of the garage, it could be
worth your while to make a
journey to Toronto and take in
some fine stage entertainment.
I'm talking about the O'Keefe
Centre which is now presenting
Maurice Chevalier, to be fol-
lowed by Jack Benny on Feb-
ruary 11th, then some favorite
Broadway hits, "I Can Get It
For you Wholesale", "Mile and
Honey", and the one I advo-
cate you definitely see, "How
To Succeed in Business With-
out Really Trying", which will
open on April 1st and continue
for three weeks. It has been
for over a year and still is, the
biggest musical on Broadway,
and was highly praised by Presi-
dent Kennedy when he saw it
last year. The snow should
have disappeared by then, so
make your plans now to attend.
Sherman. Actually, it is more
fitting to say the kids need help
raising THEM; they still have
the old knack of getting into
the worst trouble' By the way,
does the joker who plays 1larry,
ring a bell as being half of the
comedy team, Rowan and Mar-
tin? He should; he's Dick Mar-
tin. Another thing, hope you
haven't been forgetting the
time change that Lucy thrust
upon 'Leave It To Beaver'. It
is now seen on Sunday evenings
at six.
A novice goiter was playing at
his friend's club. On the first tee,
he took his stance, gave a wild
swing and missed completely.
"Gosh," he said to his oppon-
ent, "its a good thing I found out
early in the game that this course
'is at least two inches lower than
the one I usually play on."

Gorrie Defeated Alma on Monday
The Gorrie hockey team
came out on the top end of a
9-7 score Monday evening
when they met the team from
Alma in the Delmore arena.
They played to a one -all draw

Sanderson of Gorrie getting the
first goal. In the second Gor-

in no less than six goals in the
period. They were scored by

the third frame, they were un -
