tal, where she had undergone
eye surgery.

called on friends in the village
on Sunday.
Mr. Fred Taylor, Ilderton,
Mr. Norman Taylor, Hamilton
spent the week -end with their
parents, Rev. and Mrs. Fred W.
Taylor. Miss Colleen Cathers
and Mr. Bruce Richmond of
Kitchener visited at the same
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Behrns,
Mr. and Mrs. Mac Newton and
Mr. Ed. Taylor, Brussels visi-
ted Rev. W. J. Taylor of Dor-
chester on Sunday. Mrs. W.J.
Taylor passed away on Friday.
Miss Sharon Hubbard and
Miss Lois Simmons, Wroxeter,
are student teaching at Clinton
this week. Wm. Keil is at
Rosemount School in Kitchener.

Baby Shower for
Twin Daughters
GORRIE—Thhirty neighbours
and friends gathered Wednes-
day night at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Robt, Kreller, Con,
14, Howick Township, in hon-
our of their twin daughters,
Gloria Lynne and Gail Lori,
who were born December 25.
The arrangements had been
made and contests were con-
ducted by Mrs. Walter Dem-
merling and Mrs. Harvey
Wright. The gifts were pre-
sented in a decorated baby
basket. Miss Mary Harding as-
sisted her aunt in opening the
gifts. Mrs. Kreller thanked all
in a few well chosen words.
A lovely lunch was served,
highlighted by a cake, beauti-
fully decorated for the occasion
and donated by Mrs. Harold
Francis and Mrs, Walter Dem-
merling, two former neigh-
bours.

Trip to Europe
GORRIE--The regular meet-
ing of the St. Stephen's Eve-
ning Auxiliary was held in the
church basement. Mrs. Wm.
Bennett, president was in
charge of meeting. Mrs. Leon-
ard Sanderson read the Scrip-
ture and Mrs. G. A. Anderson
gave an Irish reading. Ronald
and Roland Bennett rendered
violin selections.
Mrs. Thos. Metcalfe, Wing -
ham, showed pictures taken on
a trip to Great Britain, Ger-
many, Switzerland and Italy.
Particularly interesting were
pictures taken in Ireland of her
grandparents home, farm and
school.
Donna Bennett gave apiano
instrumental. A singsong was
enjoyed with Mrs. Frank King
at the piano. A delicious lunch
was served.

To Arena Board
BELMORE—The January
meeting of the Belmore Wo-
men's Institute met in the com-
munity centre club room with
the president, Mrs. F. Double -
dee, in charge. Atter the open-
ing Ode and Mary Stewart Col-
lect, the minutes of the last
meeting were read and approv-
ed.
Many thank -you notes were
read from shut-ins, who were
remembered at Christmas. A
committee, Mrs. C. Renwick,
Mrs. Wm. Elliott, Mrs. I. Has-
kins and Mrs. H. Mulvey were
named to be in charge of meals
at the Beit. Bonspiel on Feb-
ruary 6th.
The W. I. adopted child at
Ontario Hospital, Orillia, is to
be remembered on her birth-
day, January 27th. Arrange-
ments were made for leaders to
attend classes, January 23 and
24 for the 4-H Club project,
"Being Well Dressed and Well
Groomed".
A donation of $300 was
made to the arena board. The
new sinks, as sanctioned by the
health officet, and the hot
water tank will soon be com-
pleted.
Mrs. Elmer Jeffray took
charge of a discussion, "The
Possibilities of Television as an
Aid to Education — Beneficial
or Not". It was felt that many
programs were beneficial, but
it is regrettable for children to
see so much social drinking on

Presides at W.I.
WROXETER—The first Wo-
men's Institute meeting for the
New Year was held at the home
of Mrs. Wm. Taylor. Mrs.
Wm. T. McLean was in the
president's chair, and welcom-
ed all present. After the sing-
ing of the Institute Ode the
Mary Stewart Collect was re-
peated in unison.
. The motto "Make oursense
of humor be such that we can
laugh with people, not at them"
was very ably taken by Mrs.
Jos. Simmons. She said that
all people have a great res-
ponsibility of watching their
words and actions so as not to
slander anyone. The minutes
of the previous meeting were
read and approved. The cor-
respondence containing some
donations and thank you notes
were read.
The roll call, "a Scotch
joke", brought an excellent
response. Two committees for
the February euchres were pro-
mised. Mrs. Gilbert Howes
brought the W.I. up to date on
the Constitution, By -Laws, etc.
of the new Institute Hand Book.
Some newspaper clippings from
a former member, Mrs. Walter
Davisson, were read concern-
ing the cold weather in Florida.
Mrs. Thos. Burke thanked
all who had helped to make
the meeting a success. The
hostesses for the meeting were
Mrs. Harvey Timm and Mrs.
Wes Heirnpel.
T. V. , the brewery advertise-
ments with songs to attract at-
tention and murder stories.
This all leaves a deep impres-
sion on the minds of young
children.
The motto, "Education
Should Be for Service, Not
Simply for Personal Advance-
ment" was given by Mrs. D.
Eadie. The meeting closed
with the national anthem.
