Mrs. Harry Leedham of St.
Williams, Ontario, won the
doll in the Kinette raffle at
Christmas.
The doll was donated by the
T. Eaton Co. Ltd., and was
dressed in ten $1.00 bi lls. The
money raised by the raffle will
be used by the Wingham Kin-
ettes in community services.
THE INAUGURAL SESSION of Turnberry Council was held on
Saturday with an annual ladies' night banquet the same eve-

damage but fortunately no in-
juries.
On Monday a tank truck ow-
ned by Len Bok and driven by
1-1. L. Taylor was in collision
with a pick-up truck.owned by
Dobson Roofing of Exeter and
driven by J. G. Hutchison of
Staffa, at the intersection of
Diagonal Road and Victoria St,
The big truck was coming into
town and the pick-up was tra-
velling east, Damage totalled
over $500.
.,On Wednesday morning a car
driven by Mrs. Howard Martin
of Lucknow was in collision
with a Guenther -Tuckey trans-
port loaded with 22 tons of
salt at the intersection of Jose-
phine and John Streets. The
car was travelling east and en-
tered the intersection in the
path of the north -bound truck.
The car was virtually wrecked
but Mrs. Martin was not injur-
ed. Poor road conditions pre-
vailed at the time and visibil-
ity was not the best. The truck
suffered about 5100 damage.
Constable Ted Whitby inves-
tigated the first accident and
Chief Jaynes Miller loos<ed af-
ter the second mishap, Charg-
es are pending in both cases.

—Miss Donna Caslick, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cas-
lick, R.R. 2 Teeswater, was
able to return home on Thurs-
day after spending a couple of
weeks in Wingham Hospital.
—Mr. and Mrs. Jack Walker,
Patsy and David visited with
her parents, Mr, and Mrs.
Fred Cook of Belgrave on Sun-
day.

in -training at South Waterloo
Hospital, Galt, spent the holi-
day with her parents, Mr. and

Town Council

Reeve Adair reported that
the lower floor of the new arena
front should be ready for use by
the end of this week, and build-
ing completed by the end of
the month.
Mayor Hetherington reported
that the CNR has called a meet-
ing for 9:30 a.m. Friday morn-
ing to discuss passenger ser-
vice.
Several routine by-laws
were read and passed. One
dealt with borrowings and an-
other with discounts for pre-
payment of taxes. This was
amended in the penalty sec-
tion, to allow for a two per-
cent penalty if taxes are not
paid by November 15th, rather
than the one-half percent as in
the past.
School Entered
The Wroxeter public school
was entered during the week-
end but loss was only about
81.00, taken from a desk in
Mrs, Buchanan's room,. The
money was pan of the Junior
Red Cross fund. The thief or
thieves gained entrance through
a window in the senior room..
Mrs. Woods is principal of
the school, The entry was dis-
covered by the janitor, Mrs,
Ted Smith, when she came in-
to the building on Monday
morning, In addition to the
theft of the money, articles on
the desks were scattered, but
no actual damage was done.
