After lunch Gordon McBur-
ney addressed the newlyweds,
Mr. and Mrs. Alan McBurney
and Stanley Marks presented
them with a table lamp. Each
thanked the group for their kind
and thoughtful gift, and invited
them to come to their home.

Much Accomplished During Year
WHITECHURCH—The meet-
ing of the U.C. W. was held on
Wednesday last, with the presi-
dent, Mrs. Millan Moore presi-
ding, and with eight ladies
present at the home of Mrs.
Dan Tiffin. Psalm 90 was read
in unison, followed by the hymn
"Tis Winter Now, the Fallen
Snow Has Left the Heavens
Clear", Mrs. Ezra Scholtz, in
the meditation period, asked
all to value their time and
give GQd a correct proportion.
Mrs. Moore read a poem, "I
Shall Not Pass This Way Again,
and led in prayer for the poor,
the outcast and burdened in the
land.
Mrs. J. D. Beecroft gave a
reading, of a monk, who, see-
ing that no one was carrying on
God's work, decided he had a
duty. All sang, "Take Time
to Be Holy". Mrs. G. C. Mit-
chell had charge of the Bible
study on Creation from, "The
Word and the Way", and closed
the discussion with prayer.
The financial report was
given and it was reported that
the allocation of $245 had
been met; the bales had been
sent, one to the Fred Victor
Mission and one overseas; the
white gifts, with a cash gift,
had been given to Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence McClenaghan at
Southampton; the United
Church had sorted, repacked
in water -proof bags with lists
of contents, 160 tons of used
and new clothing during the
year; the allocation for a lay-
ette, with knitted goods, gown
clothing had been received. A
vote of thanks was given Mrs.

Kathryn Naylor
Dies in Hospital
WHITECHURCH—Kathryn
Elizabeth Naylor, eldest daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Naylor, passed away in Wing -
ham Hospital on Thursday last
after a long illness. Kay, as
she was affectionately known,
was in her 21st year, and had
always lived at her home on
the 9th concession of East W awa-
nosh.
Besides her sorrowing parents,
she leaves to mourn her pass-
ing three brothers, George of
Thompson, Man. , and William
and Glen at home, and two
sisters, Jean,(Mrs. Alex Mc-
Innis) of Goderich and Doris at
home.
The pallbearers were Cam-
eron Robinson, Roger Bieman,
Keith Hardy, Michael Foran,
John Finleon and Eugene McIn-
nis. Rev. Mr. Lewis of Au-
burn and Donnybrook Church,
of which the deceased was a
member, officiated at the
Arthur funeral home, on Mon-
day at 2 p. m. and at the Wing -
ham Cemetery.
The many friends of the fam-
ily in this district extend sym-
pathy to the bereaved family.
Euchre Party
WHITCHURCH—Mr. and
Mrs. John L. Currie and Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Arbuckle spon-
sored the euchre last Friday
night in S.S. No. 9 East Wawa -
nosh, when thirteen tables
were in play. Mrs. Alex Lea-
ver and Gershom Johnston held
high points and Mrs. Alan Pat-
tison and Mrs. Kenneth Currie
held low. Mr. and Mrs. Nor -
man Coultes and Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Scott will sponsor the
euchre in two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. McNall,
Lucknow, Miss Grace Clancey
and Mr. Clifton McNall of Car-
gill, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Mc -
Nall of Tavistock and Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Waddel of Zur-
ich spent Tuesday last with Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Swan of Kinloss.

ded the Presbyterial in Wing -
ham Presbyterian Church on
Tuesday.
Mr. Clarence Manna, Bel -
grave, purchased the Krug
house on Highway 86 at the
sale on Monday.
Baby Donald, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John De Boer, who
was in Wingham Hospital with
pneumonia, was able to return
home on Wednesday last,
Mrs. Earl Caslick has been
at the home of her son, Mr.
Wm. Caslick of Culross, as
Mrs. Caslick has been a pa-
tient in Wingham Hospital
since Saturday.
The regular monthly meet-
ing of the Women's Institute is
being held this Wednesday at
the home of Mrs. Victor Emer-
son at 2 p.m. The motto, "It
takes every spoke to make the
wheel go around". Roll call,
give, in writing, an idea for
next year's program, or pay a
25¢ fine. Mrs. Emerson and
Mrs. McInnis will review the
resolutions in the Home and
Country paper.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bark
and Bruce, Jeffry and Barbara
of North Bay, who have spent
the Roast week with her mother,
Mrs. Lawrence Machan, Brus-
sels, visited on Sunday with Mr
and Mrs. Lynn Morrison.
Mr. Charlie Leaver is visi-
ting this week with Mr. Fred
Leaver of Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Tay-
lor, Ruth Ann, Joyce and Dor-
een visited on Friday with Mr.
and Mrs. Wilmer Taylor of
Hamilton and on Saturday they
took Ruth Ann to Toronto where
she attends business college.
Mr, and Mrs. Jas Mcllrath,
who spent the past two weeks
with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Under-
wood of Toronto, returned
home on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClena-
ghan enjoyed a fine cutter -
ride back to Langside on Sun-
day afternoon, making their
way around that block. The
roads and the weather were
fine for the leisurely outing.
Mr. and Mrs. George Walk-
er visited her aunt, Mrs. Alf-
red Tebbutt at Huronview,
Clinton on Sunday and also Mr.
Howard Snell of Clinton and
Mrs. Wm. Fear of Blyth.

patient in Wingham Hospital
during the past week.

day last with Miss Sharon and
Mr, Bert Hubbard of Gorrie.

progressing favourably.

the week -end with his parents,

and family visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Scott of Ripley and Mrs. Will

tle Janet Gaunt underwent a
tonselectomy in Clinton Hospi-
tal on Wednesday last.

dened by the death of Kathryn
(Kay) Naylor on Thursday morn-
ing after a lengthy illness and
the sympathy of the neighbors
and friends is extended to the
family.
