BEFORE 1959, four young carpenter -builder -
curlers from Regina were little known for these
abilities outside that Saskatchewan city. To-
day, following Canadian and world men's
Scotch Cup victories in 1959, 1960 and 1962,
the Richardson name is stamped on a curling
sweater, a special curling boot, newly -inno-
vated plastic curling rocks and one of them,
skip Ernie Richardson, helped author a book
on the game. This season, three of the
Richardsons (1 - r) Arnold, Ernie and Garnet,
try for a fourth trip to Scotland as guests of
the Scotch Whisky Association, sponsors of
the world series of curling. Missing this time
is Wes Richardson, out with a back ailment
and in his place, Mel Perry of Regina throws
lead rocks.
