right now that you ask for this man's
resignation because of his lack of
credibility, which has been destroyed
by many columns written by this man
containing false information. He is
not being fair to people who are work-
ing hard to make a farming operation

On Bills 129 and 190
Re: Grey County Federation of
Agriculture Newsletter, page 82,
September issue:
Agnes Diemert, the executive
director of the Grey County Federa-
tion of Agriculture (GFCA), does her
federation, as well as your readers, a
disservice by failing to specify the
GCFA executives' reasons for their
outright rejection of two very impor-
tant and long overdue bills which have
received such widespread public
support, namely Bill 129, An Act to
Regulate the Care of Animals for
Exhibition and Entertainment, and Bill
190, An Act to Amend the Animals
for Research Act.
I am sure that Mr. Lipsett, MPP
for Grey, will explain in his regular
newsletter to his constituents why he
voted against these two bills. Ms
Diemert showed bad judgement in
using Mr. Lipsett's negative position
on these two bills as justification for
urging federation members to speak
out against them as well.
The federation is an important
organization representing many people
in Grey County engaged in farming.
Surely in speaking up on an issue of
such public concern as these two bills
cover, it must state what it is for and
not just what it is against, and fulfil its
responsibility of contributing to an ,
intelligent dialogue with those other
groups who support these bills, in the
hope that some common ground can
be found.
Such inflammatory statements as,
"This Bill ... could greatly affect our
farm practices, and your whole way of
life could be forced to change," do not
contribute to an informed and rea-
soned dialogue.0
