Discussion papers will be submitted
by September 1 to the OCA followed
by regional meetings in September
and October to look at the results. A
final draft of the blueprint will be
prepared for the annual meeting in
February.
"I realize they (BPFC) are
disappointed," Magee says,
noting that all cattlemen will
be welcome at the planned
regional meetings ... "1 hope
they don't sit out there being
snipers ... it gets frustrating
having an organization of
people shooting at you."

Now that he has avoided the
distinction of becoming the last OCA
president, Magee says he will be no
more responsible for tuming the in-
dustry around than other members of
the executive. "It will be a joint
effort," says Magee, 47, adding that he
will be stepping down from the top
post at the next annual meeting.
The BPFC also had a meeting
during the aftermath, on May 24 in
Woodstock. It was attended by 42
members. "We have a bit of money
left over so we are going to take a
survey of members to see how many
want to continue," Paton says, adding
that at least three more meetings will
be held over the summer. "It will give
us a place to vent frustration ... it will
also give us time to catch our breath."
The BPFC will not remain an
organization simply to play devil's
advocate, Paton says, but it appears
they may still raise a little hell in the
beef business.0
