WHAT'S NEW
M -F HAS TWO NEW
COMBINES IN FIELD
Massey -Ferguson has introduced
two new combines, the M -F 8450 and
M -F 8460, for Targe farms in North
America.
"These two new conventional com-
bines are designed to be reliable and
easy to operate," says Dale Brcka, prod-
uct marketing manager for combines.
"They are equipped with performance
features to maximize harvesting effi-
ciency in hard -to -thresh crops."
The combines will be available for
delivery in mid -summer. The cab is
engineered for operating comfort and
visibility, and clean, top quality grain
samples are the result of a match system
of threshing and separation.
The M -F 8450 has a 346 -cubic -inch
diesel engine rated at 162 hp. The 669 -
cubic -inch diesel engine in the M -F
8460 delivers 221 hp.
Both combines feature hydrostatic
drive. The operator can vary ground
speeds in any one of three transmission
gears — as well as start, stop, or reverse
the combine without shifting.
The 150 bushel (M -F 8450) and 185
bushel (M -F 8460) grain tanks feature a
fast, even -filling central auger. Large
diameter unloading augers empty the
tank at rates of up to two bushels a
second.
Large, 52 -inch (M -F 8450) and 62 -
inch (M -F 8460) variable speed cylin-
ders provide gentle but thorough thresh-
ing in all types of crop. Front and rear
concave settings can be adjusted from
the operator's seat to meet varying har-
vesting conditions.
Rigid grain heads are available in
cutting widths of up to 30 feet. Flexible
bottom heads are available in cutting
widths up to 20 feet. Six and eight -row
corn heads will be available.0
