They were turned down on the grant request; the council said if the townships give on an individual basis it is not necessary for the council to give a grant. Carol is to write letters to the com- modity groups in the county who are not affiliated with us, asking them if they are interested in becoming affiliated — explaining that it gives them the right to attend our directors meetings, have a vote at meetings, attend and present a brief at our MP dinner, and receive no- tices of our meetings. Motion by Doug Garniss, seconded Paul Klopp. Carried. Fieldman Blaine Stephenson gave his report. Membership is very "posi- tive" right now. Huron has 1,550 at present, only 5 off base; 51 members have been recruited in Huron since the November convention. A directors' seminar was discussed, possibly to be held jointly with Perth, having some OMAF staff help out with workshops. The program committee of the HCFA had met previous to the direc- tors' meeting. Chairman Doug Garniss reported: the April members' meeting will have Cecil Bradley, research man- ager of the OFA, as speaker; one OPEN directors' meeting will be held for June, July, and August; September 13 (Wed- nesday) will be the regional meeting (probably Carl Sulliman from the OFA); and the annual meeting will be Thursday, October 5 at Stanley Com- plex, Varna. The nominating committee should be set up soon for both the annual and regional meetings. Some other possi- bilities discussed for topics at meetings were: Family Law, the Bruce Energy Centre, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the National Sales Tax. Bob Down, a committee member, is to look into a motivational speaker, possibly for the annual meet- ing. The board accepted this report from Doug.
