MINUTES
HCFA Board of Directors Meeting,
Vanastra, 8:30 p.m., March 15,1989:
Approximately 30 people attended
the board meeting. President Chris
thanked everyone for coming. Minutes
of the last meeting were read, approved
on a motion by Brenda McIntosh, sec-
onded by Bob Down. Carried.
Correspondence:
1. Letter from Usborne Township
regarding a program they are trying to
set up with the OPP for community-
based policing. They are asking for a
representative from the HCFA. Bob
Down will look into this matter.
2. Letter from the Cross Cultural
Learning Centre regarding a Women
and Development Conference on April
21 and 22 in Ridgetown. The registra-
tion form was passed around; anyone
interested can inform Carol.
3. Letter from the OFA regarding
ordering more mailbox signs. The price
has dropped and they are now $1.58
each. There was a motion by Claus
Heinz, seconded by Larry Plaetzer, to
buy 500, but not to pay for them until
August. Carried.
4. Letter from the Co-operators
regarding our insurance premium out-
standing. Motion by Larry Plaetzer,
seconded by Paul Klopp, to write to the
Co-operators and ask them about the
huge jump in premium ($70), explain-
ing we have had no claims and asking
them exactly what is covered. Would it
be possible to pay half the increase this
year and the other half next year?
Bills:
Clinton Commercial Printers: $252.85
office supplies, MP covers
Huron Business Machines: $32.48
Gestetner ink, steno pads, paper
Chris Palmer: $5.99 meal

tion. They were turned down on the
grant request; the council said if the
townships give on an individual basis it
is not necessary for the council to give a
grant.
Carol is to write letters to the com-
modity groups in the county who are not
affiliated with us, asking them if they are
interested in becoming affiliated —
explaining that it gives them the right to
attend our directors meetings, have a
vote at meetings, attend and present a
brief at our MP dinner, and receive no-
tices of our meetings. Motion by Doug
Garniss, seconded Paul Klopp. Carried.
Fieldman Blaine Stephenson gave
his report. Membership is very "posi-
tive" right now. Huron has 1,550 at
present, only 5 off base; 51 members
have been recruited in Huron since the
November convention.
A directors' seminar was discussed,
possibly to be held jointly with Perth,
having some OMAF staff help out with
workshops.
The program committee of the
HCFA had met previous to the direc-
tors' meeting. Chairman Doug Garniss
reported: the April members' meeting
will have Cecil Bradley, research man-
ager of the OFA, as speaker; one OPEN
directors' meeting will be held for June,
July, and August; September 13 (Wed-
nesday) will be the regional meeting
(probably Carl Sulliman from the
OFA); and the annual meeting will be
Thursday, October 5 at Stanley Com-
plex, Varna.
The nominating committee should
be set up soon for both the annual and
regional meetings. Some other possi-
bilities discussed for topics at meetings
were: Family Law, the Bruce Energy
Centre, the Ministry of Transport and
Communications, and the National
Sales Tax. Bob Down, a committee
member, is to look into a motivational
speaker, possibly for the annual meet-
ing. The board accepted this report from
Doug.
Meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.0
