HARVESTER BUILT
FOR BI-DIRECTIONAL
3 PH TRACTOR
Gehl Company has introduced the
CB 1040, a front -mounted harvester for
use with bi-directional tractors with a
three-point hitch.
"The 1040 is an attractive and cost-
effective addition to bi-directional trac-
tors because it provides farmers with
many of the features of a self-propelled
forage harvester for a lot less money,"
says Tcrry LeFever, Gehl's forage har-
vesting equipment product manager.
With the tractor seat rotated and the
forage box trailing behind, the operator
is seated directly above the harvesting
action.
Spout rotation, cap control, forward
and reverse selections, and the electric
clutch positions are all electrically con-
trolled from a box mounted to the cab's
steering pedestal.
The 1040 performs well in muddy
fields because of its light weight and the
articulated steering and four-wheel
drive of the bi-directional tractor.
A three -padded, 36 -inch, 1,000 rpm
blower, direct -driven and close -coupled
to the cylinder, allows straight -through
feed flow from crophead to forage box.
The electric clutch accommodates a
speed monitor to prevent spout plugging
and torque sensors to eliminate down-
time from shear -bolt failure.
A seven -foot hay pickup and two and
three -row cornhead attachments are
available to maximize the flexibility of
the harvester. A water tank is optional
with the hay attachment.
