DIRECTORS' MEETING
Board of Directors Meeting, Huron
County Federation of Agriculture,
Monday, October 24, 1988:
Our newly elected president., Chris
Palmer, welcomed everyone to the
meeting, which commenced at 8:30
p.m. with 23 in attendance. The minutes
of the last meeting were read; accepted
on a motion by Paul Klopp, seconded by
James Armstrong. Carried.
Correspondence:
1. Letter from OFA announcing the
new executive director, Carl Sulliman.
2. Letter from OFA re the Ontario
Farm Animal Council; Bill Benson,
second vice-president, OFA, is to be our
contact.
3. Letter from Innovations 100 re
Leadership Conference; anyone inter-
ested could contact Carol for details and
prices — held November 16 and 17,
1988.
Bills:
Rural Voice $1,164.60; Blyth Citi-
zen $15.68; OMAF Conservation Clubs
$30. Moved by Paul Klopp, seconded
by Ralph Scott, to pay the bills. Carried.
Annual Meetings of surrounding
counties: Wellington — Brenda McIn-
tosh; Grey — Paul Klopp; Bruce —
Chris Palmer.
100 Ideas to Diversify Farm Income:
seminar to be sponsored by Leeds
County; will be held on December 3
commencing at 10 a.m. $40 per person.
Gordon Hill and Stan Young will be two
of the main speakers.
ELECTIONS
Blaine Stephenson, fieldman for
Huron and Perth, ran the elections for
the four new executive directors for our
executive. The results were: Ralph
Scott, Bob Down, Heinz Claus, and
Larry Plaetzer.
Brad Thomson, Don Dow, and Doug
Gamiss reported on the OFA presi-
dents' meeting they attended at the
Wingham Legion on October 21 with
Brigid Pyke, Bill Benson, and Roger
George in attendance.
November 16 (Wednesday) was
chosen for the next directors meeting.

This meeting was combined with the
discussion of resolutions for the dele-
gates going to the convention Novem-
ber 21-23. Meeting held at the Vanastra
office boardroom, 8:30 p.m. Notices
sent out to directors and delegates.

ALL -CANDIDATES MEETING
The Huron County Federation of
Agriculture sponsored an All -Candi-
dates Meeting on October 27 in Clinton.
The meeting overflowed the audito-
rium, with about 230 in attendance.

have a lobbyist come to speak to us at
some point in the near future. He men-
tioned that both Bruce and Grey coun-
ties have had one and found it very
beneficial and informative. The Pro-
gram Committee will look into this. 11

FOR FEDERAL ELECTION
Liberal; and Tom Clark, Christian Heri-
tage —each gave a five-minute opening
remark. Chris Palmer, HCFA president,
was the moderator.
Topics discussed were free trade,
bilingualism, fuel ethanol, nuclear
weapons, rural post office closings,
abortion, day-care centres, the metric
system, interest rates, and the value of
the Canadian dollar. The evening
closed with a two -minute comment
from each candidate.0
