The Rural Voice, 1988-11, Page 21KEN KELLY
Ken Kelly is a living example that
good things don't always come in
small packages. "I am 300 pounds
and look like a teddy bear," says Ken,
identifying the obvious reason for his
sex appeal. "Women just want to
cuddle me."
The R. R. 5, Paisley cash cropper
increases his ample appeal by flashing
baby -blue eyes while playing sweet
music on the electric keyboards.
Well known for his work when
president of the Bruce Federation of
Agriculture and for his chairmanship
of the Missionary church board in
Paisley, he could not think of any past
achievement comparable to his
selection to the 10 sexiest farmers list.
Although it is impossible to put a
monetary value on such a distinction,
Ken ranked it higher than the $10 he
once won in a Lotto 649 draw.
Ken and Linda Kelly have two
sons.
MURRAY
CLARKE
Murray Clarke says it made his day
when he first learned of his selection
to this year's list, but that he wasn't
going to let the honour go to his head.
Women are drawn to upbeat men,
and Murray's habit of "always looking
on the bright side" has put him on
their right side.
Always one for self-analysis,
Murray says "I have thought of my-
self in a lot of ways but never in that
respect." Many of the rural voting
female population must have.
As president of the Grey County
Federation of Agriculture this year, his
enthusiasm and energy have made him
a "young 47," one of this year's top
10, and perhaps close to a perfect 10.
Murray and Myrna, who farm at R.
R. 2, Durham, have three children.
MURRAY
CARDIFF
Murray Cardiff operates a cash
crop and hog operation near Ethel and
represents the Huron -Bruce riding in
the House of Commons.
A veteran politician, he usually has
a ready comment on most subjects, but
admitted "a loss for words" when in-
formed of his selection to the top ten.
After regaining his composure, he
could only say, "This is the first time I
have ever won anything like this."
The 54 -year-old MP predicts that
the award will make very few changes
in his life. "The only people I get to
kiss are babies." Murray and wife
Betty have three children.
