The Rural Voice, 1988-06, Page 8Deutz Allis Hay Equipment.
IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT,
YOU HAVEN'T
SEEN IT ALL.
You're looking at "world class"
hay tools, with unique advan-
tages.
See our HD square balers.
A wide pickup feeds the rugged
plunger that glides on ten sealed
roller bearings at 100 strokes
per minute. Makes dense, uni-
form 14 x 18 -inch bales. Knotters
are gear driven, eliminating
chain noise and wear.
See our GP series round
balers. Fixed chamber steel
rollers compress material from
the outside in... to lock in nutri-
ents and resist moisture. The
67 -inch wide hydraulic pickup
gathers all the windrow so you
get all the hay in the bale.
See our Deutz -Allis mowers.
SM disc mowers have rotating
discs with paired knives that
overlap from disc to disc for
uniform mowing even in wet,
tangled and down crops. Also
available with a conditioner in
three sizes.
And check out our drum
mowers, including a front -
mounted model to let you cut an
extra swath and cover acreage
in half the time.
See our rotary rakes and
tedders. Rotary rakes carry and
fluff hay into the windrow in-
stead of beating, bunching and
rolling it. Rotary tedders gently
spread -out or fluff the hay for
faster drying. Our combination
rotary tedder/rake easily
changes from raking to tedding.
Don't buy another piece of
equipment until you've seen it
all. Stop in soon.

LIVER DEFENCE
We are writing to express our
concern about an advertisement that is
presently appearing on television.
A decade or so ago food and
beverage advertising was revolution-
ized when Coke actually named Pepsi
in one of its commercials. There
seemed to be no limits to the deroga-
tory comments and insinuations that
one could make about a rival product.
There was even the tub of margarine
trying to sell itself as butter.
Recently this style of advertising
has taken another twist. Last year in a
cold cereal commercial some slander-
ous comments were made about
broccoli, an obvious personal attack
on the character of this well-meaning,
wholesome vegetable. In the latest
round of libelous statements directed
at other food items, eggs have
launched a scathing, demoralizing,
and discriminating blow to liver by
suggesting that they are more fun than
this highly nutritious source of essen-
tial minerals and vitamins. Granted,
liver is perhaps not as popular among
some segments of the population as
the single -celled egg, but to imply that
it is not a fun -loving food is indeed a
serious accusation.
We demand that eggs Get Crackin'
and withdraw this statement from their
ad, and make an apology to all liver.°
Yours in foodland,
APPLE

Preservation of Liver Everywhere)
AG AWARDS ARE
WELL-DESERVED
When I scanned the list of winners
of OMAF centennial awards I was
pleased to see the names of three
present and former OPPMB directors
with whom I had the privilege of
serving.
Clare Curtin served in the Ontario
Hog Producers Association and the
marketing board from 1958 till 1974
and I remember him as an astute,
down to earth thinker who has done
more for Ontario hog producers than
