Townsman, 1991-11, Page 19Dried flowers from your garden such
as dusty miller or bows and bells can
be used to decorate it. Boughs can
adorn the mantel. Bows can be fabric
or crepe paper. Wreaths can be made
from many natural items such as
grapevines or straw or cedar tied on a
wire with string.
Some people must have new co-
ordinated decorations every year to
match their colour scheme but it is not
necessary. Trinkets can be family
heirlooms. Tree decorations can be
used over the years if they are stored
properly or home-made out of paper,
popcorn, tinsel, or fabric. Pine cones
and boughs and bows on a mirror
makes a very simple and effective
table centerpiece.
Wrapping paper can be cut and fold-
ed for use next year as can bows. Last
year's cards can be cut with scissors,
straight edge or zigzag, for tags or for
a collage for the children.
You can use what you have in your
closet to wrap presents if you save
brown paper bags. Plain brown paper
can be stencilled or tied with ribbons
and tinsel. Plastic bags you get when
buying your groceries can be used to
wrap your decorations and lights after
the holidays to protect them from
dust.
Boxes and bags can be saved from
year to year to wrap your presents or
store saved decorations.
Tree skirts can be elaborate if made
from felt or fabric with cut-out
designs or simply made of coloured
paper or foil.
"Waste not, want not", is a theme
many people can remember their par-
ents saying as they grew up. In today's
energy and consumption conscious
world, it makes more sense than ever.

Wentworth Folkins
Dear Customer:
May we present with eager anticipation the new Folkins
Collection of two stunning nostalgic images created especially
for Goderich.
There will be, herein, no wordy imagery describing Went's
two new prints. We want YOU to take a long, close look at two
of the best you'll ever see.
Undeniably, the period of history portrayed in these
paintings takes on added charm and significance in light of the
real threat to the very existence of rail service in this area.
We wish to point out that the paper used in printing our new
editions of 300 lithographic reproductions is the best in the
industry - the most expensive to acquire, the cleanest 100% rag
paper being produced in North America today. You will
immediately see and feel the sublime texture of this vellum
stock which is ordinarily reserved for fine art prints being
marketed in the $350. to $600. price range.
