Highlights from the Huron County
Federation of Agriculture board meet-
ing, Monday, October 26.
OMAF Courses
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture
and Food office may hold a public
speaking and accrual system course this
winter. Details about instructors, fi-
nances, etc. are being looked into. More
information will be available shortly.
Free Trade Resolution
WHEREAS the free trade agree-
ment appears to be a disaster for agricul-
ture, threatens supply -managed com-
modities, and does not remove the tar-
iffs on pork exports,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED
that the Huron County Federation of
Agriculture oppose the agreement and
work with other groups to oppose it by
sending letters to the MPs explaining
our opposition and demanding explana-
tions to many questionable areas, and
further
BE IT RESOLVED that if the agree-
ment does take effect, the HCFA press

ture at a meeting held
November 16 are:
Brenda McIntosh,

Hank Binnedyk,
R. R. 2, Kippen,
Larry Plaetzer,
R. R. 1, Auburn,
Ralph Scott,
R. R. 3, Blyth.
These four people will
assist the presidents:
Paul Klopp, 1st vice
Chris Palmer, and 2nd
vice James Armstrong
in leading the county
federation.

Moved by Doug Gamiss, seconded
by Chris Palmer that we write to our MP
Murray Cardiff, Brian Mulroney, and
John Wise asking for all details and
information on the proposal and that we
try to have Murray Cardiff attend our
December members' meeting to speak
to us on this. Carried.
MP Dinner
A motion was made to invite this
year mayors and/or reeves of the five
towns and villages in Huron County.
Fieldman's Report
Blaine asked for guidance on setting
up another Directors' Seminar this win-
ter for Huron/Perth new directors. A
motion was made by Brenda McIntosh,
seconded by Don Dow, for Blaine to go
ahead with plans for this. Carried. In-
formation is forthcoming to all new
directors and to any other interested
persons when the agenda and speakers
are finalized.
Annual Meeting Date Change
and Constitution Changes
Brenda McIntosh, Doug Garniss,
and Chris Palmer volunteered to head a
committee to look into an earlier/later
date for our annual meeting, as well as to
look into some needed changes in our
constitution (revised, 1978). It was
suggested that these people ask some
former past presidents for their assis-
tance with this task. The committee will
report back at the January directors'
meeting.0
