AWARD TO GO TO
YOUNG FARMERS
The Jaycees organization is looking
for outstanding young farmers, and
invites nominations for its awards to
recognize agricultural achievement.
The awards are given to increase
urban awareness of agriculture, to pro-
mote better understanding between
urban and rural communities, and to
recognize the excellence of farmers.
Particular consideration is given to a
farmer's innovations, production his-
tory, soil, water, and energy conserva-
tion, and community contributions.
Nominees must be between 18 and
39 and derive a minimum of two-thirds
of their income from the farm. If you
know anyone who might qualify, submit
your nomination to your local OMAF
office before December 4.0

SOYBEANS MAY
PRODUCE INK
Someday the ink used for newspa-
pers may come from the soybean field
instead of the oil field.
The American Newspaper Publish-
ers Association started researching non-
mineral oil inks in 1980. Some newspa-
pers are already using ink made from
soybean oil.
Soy -based ink is still expensive,
however, because so little of it is being
produced.0
