PLOWMEN HOLD
AWARDS NIGHT
Elmer Erb of Millbank, as grand
champion plowman of the Perth County
Plowing Match this summer, has re-
ceived the Ellard Lange trophy for the
third time.
The trophy was presented at the
Perth County Plowmen's Association
annual banquet and awards night in
Milverton last month.
Erb also won the three -furrow
championship and reserve overall
championship at the International Plow-
ing Match in Grey County this year.
The new Perth County Queen of the
Furrow was also named at the banquet:
Heather Schmidt of R. R. 1, Brunner. A
Grade 12 student in Stratford, she is the
daughter of Robert and Lorraine
Schmidt.
Nancy Johnston, 1986-87 Perth
Queen of the Furrow, who competed for
the Ontario title at the 1987 IPM, passed
on the crown. At the IPM, Johnston was
one of the five finalists out of 31 contest-
ants from across Ontario.
Sandra Bender of R. R. 1, Gowan-
stown was named first runner-up for
1987-88.0
PERTH PLANS
COMPUTER CLUB
Perth County pork producers inter-
ested in belonging to a computer users'
club, whether they have bought a com-
puter or not, are invited to a meeting on
November 16.
Guest speaker will be Ian Gibb,
production manager of farmhand soft-
ware, who will discuss both the Pork
Management 2000 system and
farmhand softward packages.
The club is designed as a forum for
farmers to pick up new ideas about how
to better use farm computers.
The first meeting will be in the Strat-
ford OMAF boardroom at 7:30 p.m.0
