WANTED: CONSERVATIONISTS
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation
Authority (ABCA) will be accepting
nominations for its annual conservation
awards until October 10.
Authority staff ask that area resi-
dents nominate a friend, neighbour,
club, or organization that has taken di-
rect action to protect a resource.
"Your community or concession
road may be harbouring a conservation-
ist. If so, please let us know," says
ABCA community relations co-ordina-
tor Gregory Pulham.
Winners in 1986 were the Huron
Centennial Public School and Jerry
Giesen of London Township.
Examples of conservation work to
be considered are: wetland protection;
prevention of soil erosion through mod-
ified tillage, crop rotation, structures,
and windbreaks; farm waste control to
prevent pollution; and education.
The ABCA requires names, mailing
addresses, and descriptions of the con-
servation work done by the nominee (in
rural areas, note the lot and concession).
The ABCA mailing address is Box
2410, Exeter, Ontario, NOM 150.0
