years." Bob and Marj have encour-
aged their children to get a university
education or trade, and "our only
regret is probably denying them the
heritage of carrying on the traditional
family farm which is one of the
strongest threads in the fabric of our
nation."

The livingroom of the Irvine home
is lined with trophies and plaques
commemorating their cattle -breeding
achievements. In the basement, the
wall around the piano is covered with
ribbons — but only Grand Champion
ribbons. The class -winning ribbons
and championship ribbons fill two
boxes stored in the spare bedroom.
The dispersal sale of one of
Ontario's oldest established herds of
Black and Dun Galloways will be like
the end of an era for Bob Irvine and
family, who have won every available
award on the Ontario show circuit.
In the sale on November 7 at the
Milverton Stock Yards will be 40
head of pedigreed cattle, including
show stock. The proud heritage of
Avon Acres cattle can be previewed
on November 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
and Saturday moming from 9 a.m.
until sale time at 12:30.0
